Default "V for Vendetta" surprisingly topical political thriller

I highly recommend "V for Vendetta," the latest by the Wachowski brothers (who did the "Matrix" trilogy). Saw it last night at the Imax at Jordan's Furniture and was blown away. It's not what you might expect, it's more a futuristic political thriller than an action film, but still has enough action to keep things rolling. Deals with how government can use fear to control the population, by exaggerating terror threats and creating its own viral plagues, etc. Excellent plot and acting and plenty of food for thought. Best of 2006 so far, IMHO.

Can't comment on it, haven't seen it, (Does it blame everything that is wrong in the universe on bad, bad America)?

No, it's set in the fictional future of a totalitarian England. There are references to a civil war going on in the U.S., but that's it.

Sounds good, I'll have to see it, I love good story's and good drama's there are very few of them around today, most are just the same old crap sex, violence, liberal messages and their obsession with the word "f-ck".

What blows me away is that Jordan's Furniture has an IMAX theatre in it.

They've made the place into a sort of weird consumerist Disneyland. All kinds of things for kids (even a trapeze ride), places to eat, etc. To get to the Imax theater, you have to walk through a couple hundred yards of furniture displays and past a Bose electronics shop.
