They moved Ashworth all over the place - LT, FB, TE.
Used 3 different RBs.

Blast it, AV had to make the tackle on Miller's runback.

That was a beaautiful jump Asante got - hope he's OK.

This calling the fumble BS has got to stop. That was clearly knee down and there was a zebra lookin' right at it. Just forcing the intercepting team to use a challenge is ballfaced BS.

Maybe we should take out our starters. Samuel (looks like a concussion) & Bruschi (his injury looks scarier, I'd hate to lose him for the playoffs on a damned special teams play) hurt, Brady looks kinda shaky(actually looks crappy), Dillon doesn't look so good. Lets do what the Colts are doing, these games don't mean THAT much. I rather go 9-7 and be relatively healthy. Unfortunately, they just said Bruschi won't be back, so that's a damned tragedy to lose him on a special teams play in a meaningless game. If he's gone for the playoffs, that'll hurt us big time.

It's not a meaningless game. They still have a shot - a good shot too - at the 3 seed. This isn't Indy - football players play football. The D shouldn't have even been on the field at that moment - the offense needs to get their act back together after that stupid INT and start playing like they did before it.

From the 3rd offensive series of the Bills game:

1st and 10 NE 20
Result: Pass, Watson, 10 yard hook, 11 yds.

Neal has no man to block due to the zone by the DT, and will slide back to help Gorin as needed

1st and 10 NE 31
Result: Run, Dillon, left guard, 4 yds.

Neal pulls left and drives a LB that moved into the hole out of it, although Neal turns too wide and falls to his face

2nd and 6 NE 35
Result: Pass, Watson, 10 yard out, 10 yds.

Neal will get pushed into the backfield by a DE (actually a DT), but will hold his ground long enough for the pass

1st and 10 NE 45
Result: Pass, Watson, Incomplete, 5 yard drag into the flats.

Neal double teams a DT with Hochstein

2nd and 10 NE 45
Result: Pass, Branch, 20 yard seam, 22 yds.

Hochstein and Neal double team the DT Adams without any penetration

1st and 10 Buf 33
Result: Pass, Brown, 15 yard out, 16 yds.

Neal rides a DT outside and doesn’t allow for penetration

1st and 10 Buf 17
Result: Pass, Watson, 10 yard out, 14 yds.

Neal rides a DT outside before he releases that DT to Hochstein and picks up Hochstein’s DT, whom Neal pushes to the ground

1st and Goal Buf 3
Result: Scramble, Brady, up the middle, 3 yds., TOUCHDOWN.

Hochstein and Neal double team a DT off the snap but semi-release him on the scramble, but don’t allow the DT to get near Brady

And the 4th offensive series:

1st and 10 NE 14
Result: Pass, Givens, 5 yard out, 5 yds.

Neal will tap a DT inside to Hochstein before breaking back out to check the stunting DE from other side of the line, who wasn’t a threat

2nd and 5 NE 19
Result: Run, Dillon, up the middle, 8 yds.

Neal holds a DT pretty tight but loses control and looks weaker, allowing the DT to slide into the hole and get a dive/slight hit on Dillon just before the tackle

1st and 10 NE 27
Result: Pass, Desperation shovel under pressure, Dillon underneath, 2 yds.

Neal gets his DT man to one knee before the DT gets back up and Neal pushes him downfield during the throw

2nd and 8 NE 25
Result: Run, Dillon, up the middle, 2 yds.

Neal pulls left and knocks the LB coming off the edge away from Dillon’s run

Those are two fairly good drives where there wasn't too much action for Neal.

But let's go to the 1st, where he was OK, and then the 2nd series:

1st and 10 NE 41
Result: Run, Dillon, left tackle, -1 yd.

Neal pulls behind Mankins and picks up a LB coming in, getting the LB away just in time as Corey comes up from behind

2nd and 11 NE 40
Result: Pass, SACKED, Brady by Schobel, -1 yd.

Neal has a pretty good backside block on a DT, and controls a spin move, for the most part, before Hochstein takes over

3rd and 12 NE 39
Result: Pass, Davis, Incomplete, 25 yard out.

Neal holds a DE fairly well but will get pushed around by the said mass of blockers and rushers

1st and 10 NE 36
Result: Pass, Dillon, screen right, 5 yds.

Neal’s man, the other DT, is able to break outside of Neal and push him into the backfield, but Brady’s throw comes quick enough for this is not a factor

2nd and 5 NE 41
Result: Run, Dillon, right tackle, -4 yds.

Neal can’t contain the other LB blitzing straight at him and blows the block, with the LB wrapping up Dillon behind the line. Neal wasn’t square to the line and was angled as to provide an opening for the blitzer to push Neal aside like a Saloon door

3rd and 9 NE 37
Result: Pass, Watson, Incomplete, 10 yard post.

Neal is faced with a stunting rusher and loses ground, getting pushed right into Brady’s face just before the throw

And the 1st offensive drive of the Jets game (early December):

1st and 10 NE 34
Result: Scramble, Brady, to left sideline, 3 yds.

Neal takes on the DE, and I’m not really sure what happened, but when Gorin pushes that DE to the ground towards Neal, it almost looks like Neal was stumbling and Hochstein grabbed on his sleeve and tugged him away from the DE, who stumbled and made a lunge towards Brady (causing the scramble) but was extinguished by Neal on the ground before being able to reach Brady

2nd and 7 NE 37
Result: Run, Dillon, right guard, 2 yds.

Neal gets help from Hochstein off the snap with a DT, but can’t follow the cut-back swim towards the play by the DT and will fall to his face as the DT somewhat of a tackle (falls on top of Dillon, who is on the ground, tackled by the feet

3rd and 5 NE 39
Result: Pass, SACKED, Brady by Robertson and Thomas, -9 yds.

Neal slides wide to pick up Abraham on the edge, but is unable to get a good block and will fall to his knees. While Abraham did not directly contribute on the sack, Brady noticed Abraham free in his peripheral vision causing the step-up that turned into a sack. However, with two other free blitzers, Brady’s fate was sealed long before Neal was unable to block Abraham

It's not a meaningless game. They still have a shot - a good shot too - at the 3 seed. This isn't Indy - football players play football. The D shouldn't have even been on the field at that moment - the offense needs to get their act back together after that stupid INT and start playing like they did before it.

I agree Mo, but the way the offense is playing, except for the opening drive, this can be a long night for an already injured defense. If they were playing the way they played last week, I'd agree that you keep them in, until the game is in hand. This looks like it could be a very close game, and you know the Dolphins aren't going to just lay down next week. I say keep em healthy, we already lost 2 guys. That in itself should be a message.

Tedy kept running after it happened if his leg got crushed he would have went down the second it happened

He tried to but went right back down. Then he tried to walk off and couldn't put any weight on it. Then after sitting for a few minutes he still couldn't and had to be carted to the locker room.

And if that wasn't bad enough, they told ABC Tedy definitely will not return tonight. By contrast, Asante who looks like he got knocked cold was told to ABC as being questionable to return.

Tedy kept running after it happened if his leg got crushed he would have went down the second it happened

Yeah, it looked completely different than the Rodney Harrison injury. It looked like he was holding his ankle, high up on the ankle. Maybe a slight sprain. I've had sprains, knee injuries (nuthin major, just arthroscopic surgery), and the such, all sports related (for the person posting about sports injuries). If I had to guess, a high ankle sprain, I pray I'm right. He sits down next week and will be ready for the playoffs.

Is there a more woeful offense in this league than the Jets? Mike Greenberg (AM ESPN) said they would not score an offensive TD for the last 7wks of the season...atleast a meaningful one. I don't thing the JETS are a guage for any defense.

I don't know AJain, I believe they put up 28 or 35 against the Raiders (no big deal) and 24 agains the Phins, who have a pretty good defense, and Bollinger had his first 300 yard game. Not a great offense, but they can score some.

Depends on how serious it is, but a high ankle sprain can be a more serious injury than a broken bone. I lost about 7 weeks of my sophmore lacrosse season to one, and it was easily the most painful and debilitating injury I had ever suffered, from a list that includes a torn patellar tendon, three torn ligaments in my right ankle and a 1.5" deep, 8" long gash on my left leg.

Concur, he was reaching to block a player off the edge who was going for the punt block, he was extended and twisted his leg awkwardly, at first I thought it was the knee, but you can see him running and then skipping with the pain so it is some kind of weight bearing issue. This game is really hammering home that the Jets are awful. One of the worst teams I can remember seeing the past 10 years. They're 3 years away from being a threat again.

He also got leg whipped by Vrabel, which is extremely painful.
I didn't see that there was much contact between them, I'll have to watch it again after the game.

I took some time to watch some of Neal's blocks during the half, he looked good to me, holding his blocks and moving his target.

Tonight should have been throw-back night...only unis...and old MNF font...that would be cool. Especially the away Patriots throw-backs...the best uniform ever.

Corey looks to be getting a lot stronger and quicker.

Bethel is a baby. Pulled hammies...sore ankles...get up and play. Or, use Dwight full time on returns.
Jumping Jets fans neighbor, your peeing all sorts of people tonight, is that a NYC hobby?

Desi,

As I mentioned in an earlier post, some people can't afford cable. I know my mother in law is on a pension and social security, and can't afford cable. She doesn't care about MNF, but what about a guy who has watched it for 36 years and is in the same situation as my mother in law. I don't know the stats, but I doubt 100% of American households have cable. Plus, you can say what you want about Al Michael's color commentators past and present, but I actually like Al Michaels, and consider him a consumate professional. I'll miss him on MNF.

oh sorry, i didnt mean to insult or anything, was just curious. I never even thought about ESPN not being on cable. And on a side note, i like AL. One of my favs for a long time.

yes...the red was nice...i like the away (whites) better...they made the old high-flying patriot offenses look faster.

one more TD and i really think we should bring in backups. I am actually interested to see what Matt can do.

Let's see if they cover Vrabel...

I bet Ashworth gets this one.

Nope! Dillon gets it. Touchdown!
