As an FYI, the servers that power this site are located in Clifton, New Jersey. I've been told that despite the storm they have back-up generators in place to run the entire datacenter that houses not only ours, but their entire client base. However there is still a small possibility that we may experience downtime, although it sounds like we may be O.K.
I don't know how long we'll have power here in New Hampshire at the rate things seem to be going, but I just wanted to let everyone know that if the site does go down, it sounds like it won't be for very long.
In the meantime I hope everyone stays safe, and hopefully it will be over soon.

Every minute this site stays on is a blessing - - kids off from school watching movies and reading, wife reading her e- book and I am tapping away on the keyboard and trying to not hear the wind outside after rescheduling all my meetings for the end of the week.
Understand that power and communications will probably be lost at some point by this evening down here in Maryland and we are prepared for that with lost of "no-tech" entertainment. Until then, I'm just enjoying gorging on yesterday's game! Good thing this weather event was well known as coming for the past week or so.
Wow - that's unbelievable. I know they were preparing for the worst in that area but it seems like it's going to get pretty ugly.

The wind is picking up here and I've already heard of a couple spots that have lost power. Our lights have flickered a few times, but I'm hoping things don't go out. Both kids are home from school today and I have a feeling depending on how things go they may be stuck home tomorrow as well. It'll be pretty boring for them around here without any electricity. Although I haven't tested my board game prowess in a while or my ability to build my hotel empire in Monopoly - so there's always that as a backup

Good to hear the forum should be staying up through the storm. I'm in NH and it's tough to say at this point if I'll lose power or not. Here in NH, there's a good chance we could lose power, and in that case I unfortunately won't be able to browse the forums. Stay safe everyone!

Problem here in NH where 75 homes share a water supply and pumps that empty the septic tanks, when we lose power, we lose toilets. Really flawed system design.

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.
This is known as "bad luck." RAH

I'd be surprised if you didn't lose power. FPL (Florida Power and Light) and other energy companies have contingency plans in place for hurricanes being that we tend to get hit with more of them than other states (though we have been lucky in recent years) and we still lose power if a hurricane goes over Catagory 1 status. Good luck to all you guys up north. Keep your heads down.
