Default How exactly does McNabb have "zero weapons"?

Now that the Manning charade seems to be cracking, can someone explain to me how McNabb has "no weapons"? Westbrook and Desean Jackson do play for them, correct?

Anyone care to speculate what Tom Terrific's career stats would be with McNabb "weapons"?

He could use one more receiver. LJ Smith isn't a bad tight end either.

Ummm.... Gaffney says "hi", Stallworth says "Yo" and T.O. laughs.

The recievers that McNabb have now are inconsistant. While DeSean Jackson has shown promise, he's not a #1 WR yet. McNabb had a career year with T.O. and had a very good year with Stallworth until McNabb got injured.

Desean Jackson, Kevin Curtis, Brian Westbrook >>> David Givens, Deion Branch, Antowain Smith

Let's see if Mcnabb can do what Tom did in '03.

In their desire to build up McNabb, I wonder if the pundits do the guy a disservice.

I wonder the collective attitude of the Eagle receiver corps constantly hearing poor Donovan plays with a bunch of peckerheads.

It seems plausible that could be a contributing factor to their various lockerroom issues.

Could you ever see any of our guys letting that type of talk slide?

It's the same thing as what happened in Atlanta. Mike Vick failed primarily because he didn't have any weapons on the outside; he had scrubs like Roddy White, Michael Jenkins and Alge Crumpler catching balls. Then last year, with Vick out, the Atlanta offense couldn't move at all because the receivers just couldn't get open.

Then this offseason, Atlanta went out and got some bona fide weapons like Michael Jenkins and Roddy White to stretch the field for their rookie QB, and their passing offense predictably took off. Lesson learned: QBs are only as good as the deep threats they're given.

I'll tell you what he DOES have...

Tra Thomas/Todd Herremans/Jamaal Jackson/Shawn Andrews/John Runyan --> A massive, albeit the most athletic OL in all of football. The big reason why they're the best screen running team in all of football is b/c of the speed and athleticism they have up front.

Pt being that it all starts up FRONT. You can protect the QB, open up holes for the run game, et al, you're going to come out on top as your QB will have alot of time to throw and get in rhythm. Doesn't matter how mediocre your receivers are, if the OL gives all day to throw, they WILL get open.

On the contrary, look at the Cowboys-despite the arsenal Romo has in TO, Witten, Barber, Felix, Roy11, Crayton, Choice, M. Bennett, etc...his OL is mediocre(at best). They're inconsistent in pass protection, and they can't run block well b/c they lack alot of athleticism...not to mention too they can't run screens worth a darn.
