Default Buddhist Wisdom

Anyone have any good Buddhist sayings or wisdom?

Do not speak unless it improves on silence.

Just as the highest and the lowest notes are equally inaudible, so perhaps, is the greatest sense and the greatest nonsense equally unintelligible.
Allan Watts

Renunciation is not getting rid of the things of this world, but accepting that they pass away.
Aitken Roshi

The greatest achievement is selflessness.
The greatest worth is self-mastery.
The greatest quality is seeking to serve others.
The greatest precept is continual awareness.
The greatest medicine is the emptiness of everything.
The greatest action is not conforming with the worlds ways.
The greatest magic is transmuting the passions.
The greatest generosity is non-attachment.
The greatest goodness is a peaceful mind.
The greatest patience is humility.
The greatest effort is not concerned with results.
The greatest meditation is a mind that lets go.
The greatest wisdom is seeing through appearances.
Atisha

In criticizing, the teacher is hoping to teach. That's all.
Bankei

The true meaning of the precepts is not just that one should refrain from drinking alcohol, but also from getting drunk on nirvana.

I love replying "mu", and being told that the text I have entered is too short.

Wakefulness is the way to life.
The fool sleeps
As if he were already dead,
But the master is awake
And he lives forever
He watches
He is clear.

How happy he is!
For he sees that wakefulness is Life.
How happy he is,
Following the path of the awakened

With great perseverance
He meditates seeking
Freedom and happiness.

My interpritation. Don't be asleep to the presant(you'll miss it) by living in the past.
Don't sleep in the thought of the the future, you don't know what the future will bring.
Live in the NOW,and only the NOW............................................... ..Grasshopper.
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

You're right.I'm sitting here trying it and I don't think its just an O its oummmm,Oummmmm.Like many words I know how it sounds but not how its spelled. Now for another serene thought.

How can a troubled mind
Undestand the way?

Your worst enemy cannot harm you
As much as your own thoughts
unguarded.

But once mastered,
No one can help you as much,
Not even your Father or Mother. OUMMMMMMM
