In the Age of Information, is there a compelling reason to assign any positive social value to having Faith? At this point is it little more than political correctness?

Faith drives people to action. Look at all the hospitals, nursing homes, colleges, schools, food pantries, homeless shelters, woman's shelters, housing projects, and missions built by people of faith.
Faith also drives people to social justice whether it be ending slavery, helping women obtain the right to vote, ending segregation, or in today's battles ending the scourge of abortion.

Faith does all this and gives solace to people with the knowledge that their life has true meaning and won't simply end in dust.

Faith is a place where people can hide and use their power to prey on unsuspecting young men and women, particularly in the Catholic Church.

Follow the current court cases about the Legion of Christ, Father Maciel and the women from Cumberland he duped into giving the "Legion" millions of dollars. Then there is the psychological abuse the girls suffered at the Immaculate Conception School in South Kingston, run by the Legion of Christ..

The Cardinal from Scotland who "played" with others..

The "Magdalena Laundries" in Ireland..

It goes on and on, all under the guise of faith.. this is why the Pope resigned after commissioning the study about the Vatican, he realized how deep the pathology of the Catholic Church, and how powerless he was to change it. It is so bad that is it kept secret, even at the highest levels of the Catholic Church.

Every day some new abuse is revealed, all under the guise of faith..

Well so much for the teaching profession where children are molested every day. But let's focus on the 3% of teachers who betray their trusted office rather than the 97% who faithfully execute it ever day.

It's not so much the "3%" (although I don't know where you get your figures at) which is alarming or disgusting - there will always be child abusers and there will always be adults who prey on children - as it is the massive cover-up which is making people question The Catholic Church. Any cover-up takes many more people than the original act of abuse took. Your 3% becomes 30%.

That being said, "faith" does not stop at The Catholic Church. All believers in all religions have faith. People without an organized religion can have faith and I am unsure what it has to do with political correctness.

It is certainly not "politically correct" in The United States to be a Muslim and yet Muslims have faith.

The comparison to teachers is epic fail..

Teachers do not profess to a faith, a system of beliefs, they do not take vows of celibacy.... there are molesters there as well. Priests are supposedly holy men who are held to a very high standard, leaders of their flock to which they have failed over and over again.

The Catholic Church, a church of faith, has become nothing more than a criminal organization that steals money from the unsuspecting and steals the souls of victims..

NIHIL OBSTAT: I have concluded that the materials
presented in this work are free of doctrinal or moral errors.

I admire those with a strong faith especially those with a strong live and let live faith.

I cannot stand:

Those who think everybody should have the same faith they have and that all other faith is misplaced and incorrect.

Those who scream about their faith but are frauds such as a Ray Lewis.

Those who profit off of faith such as a Jimmy Swaggart.

Those who push their political agenda by putting faith up front and masking their real focus.

The sheep who will follow those mentioned above simply because they spray claim to be men of god.

Those who think that a person who believes in god must have a good moral compass and those who don't must not. People can be socially just without any belief in god.

There's only two conclusions for Patriots fans on rookies. They are either a bust or being fitted for their bust in Canton.

So you're saying that because some men took a vow of celibacy and then broke that vow, it corrupts an entire organization even though the vast majority of men who took that vow live their vow faithfully? Hmmmm.....can't see how that makes much sense....well, logically speaking.
I guess it makes sense for someone who is obviously bitter and angry and/or a member of the Progressive faith. Outside of that...not so much.

So you're saying that truth isn't possible?

Who's truth? I'm sure your truth is much different than my truth which is much different than the truth a Muslim feels. I have no issues with your truth or the Muslim truth and hope it serves you well. I just don't want your truth force fed to me. You fall into the group that believes your faith is the only faith which is what you've been taught I just personally have no time for that.
