Default Celtics Win Opener

Celtics looked very good tonight. Garnett 22 points and 20 rebounds, but what really impressed me was his blocked shots, wow. Pierce had 28 and Rhondo 17, believe Allen was around 18. Announcers mentioned how Garnett had the team take a bus together for a Pats game and while in Europe bought all the rookies 3 custom made suits, must be nice. This team is going to compete big time.

Yeah, but only 18 defensive rebounds... Let's hope he tries harder on both sides of the court in future games.

Looks like Perkins didn't foul out either - that's a big improvement too! I think he's going to have a good year as well.

Opening night lived up to all the hype...making me very happy to have purchased some tickets this year.

Michael Wise of the Washington Post wrote an excellent opinion/analysis of last night's game here...

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...110202231.html

The following is an exerpt:

There are fewer things louder in sports than a throaty Boston crowd -- maybe Yankee Stadium circa 2001 or Madison Square Garden most of the 1990s. But that's about it. When these people get behind their teams, it produces a guttural emotion exceeding fanaticism and moving frighteningly toward religion.
This was the environment the Wizards found themselves in last night. Red Sox and Patriot players were littered throughout the building, evoking wild applause each time their mugs hit the Jumbotron screen.
"I have to say that was playoff atmosphere," Arenas said. "When the crowd is powerful like that it is going to be difficult to beat these guys."
Before the game, the Celtics players had to walk through a tunnel leading to the court. Alongside the right wall they were met by Bob Cousy, Satch Sanders, Jo Jo White, M.L. Carr -- Celtic Hall of Famers and cult heroes alike, showing up for the next generation.
Pierce even grabbed the microphone before tip-off, thanking the fans for their patience and promising change.

I was able to watch the second half of the game last night, and I must say they do look impressive. There were spots of sloppiness, but that's something I can't complain too much about given that what I saw was mostly garbage time and that this is the first game of the season. KG is an absolute monster on defense, and even Pierce was making defensive plays that I'd never see him make before.

The Celtics spanked em! It wasn't even close.
The new Big 3 looks for real guys.

Guess Arenas has got to eat his crow now!

I will be pumped Saturday night when the Celtics come to East Rutherford. It will be fun when the Nets beat them.

Will you post after the Celtics beat them, or will you spew more garbage? Still didn't answer Daniels question on Chad Pennington. Class real class.

Jason Kidd will see to it that he does not lose to the Celtics.

Last time I checked, the Nets have owned the Celtics since Kidd came to East Rutherford, which includes two playoff series wins as he and his team clinched it at the Fleet Center.

Kidd will always be motivated against the Celtics after the racial epithets that he endured along with being called a "WIFEBEATER" never mind that he was innocent of charges.

As for Pennington, that was misinterpreted. Jets fans were cheering of the presence of Kellen Clemens, who is getting everyone excited.
