Default Celtics Draft picks?

I'm not as up on the celts as I should be - do they have their own draft pick this year? Anyone elses? or did they trade them away?

With all the injuries I'm happy to see the young guys get some playing time - we were in the 8th playoff spot after our 5 win streak but are now well out of that - barely making the playoffs doesn't make much sense to me anyways

Better not to worry about records and let the young kids get experienced - hopefully the lower the draft pick the better either for use or for trade.

Can anyone fill me in?

Good Q, it's hard to keep up with them as Danny moves draft picks to and fro quite frequently it seems.

This link is old:

But based on that...
I believe we moved the 1st rounder from Cleveland in 07 to Phoenix in exchange for the Rondo pick, meaning we will only have 1 first rounder next season. Thats what I'm thinking at least.

Personally, I think trading that #7 pick will come back to haunt us if Telfair doesn't turn into something special. Between Foye, Gay and Roy, there's going to be a start amongst those guys.

PS... a good site to check out come draft time (seems to confirm that we only have one pick): http://www.nbadraft.net/

According to this (april 2006 article) we have ours and Cleveland's but that we used the Cleveland pick for Rondo - correct?

yeah if you go to nbadraft.net you'll see that phoenix gets a first round pick from us from rajon rondo, which we received from cleveland for jiri welsch

we got jiri with a second rounder right?
so in essence we got rondo for a second rounder...not bad

I think the Telfair trade may eventually cost Ainge his job. It has Larry Anderson / Bagwell potential. As much as I love getting rid of Bledsoe, I mean Raef, I have detested that deal since it was announced.

Rondo, however, still has me driving the bandwagon.

Here's hoping Ainge drafts someone with some college experience this year. A senior from a major program would certainly be welcome.

Guys, the Ainge deal for Telfair was not about Telfair, as much as it was about Raef's 3 yr's & $36 million owed. By aquiring Theo and his 2/$12 deal, Ainge freed up money he's going to need to sign Al Jefferson, Gerald Green, and Delonte West. Furthermore, Theo's deal, being a year shorter, is much easier to move this year, and will be totally movable next year when it's expiring. The deal was a salary dump basically.

Oh, and Foye was never going to be available at #7. Our choices would have been Roy or Gay mainly. Niether of which Ainge liked. Ainge was doing comontary for a quarter doing the Portland game last month, and his words regarding Roy weren't exactly awe inspiring. He said he thinks Roy will be good, but that he's not a very good shooter, etc... I think Ainge made a good trade, where I'd criticize him is in taking Lafrentz to begin with.
