Default Draft

What does everyone think of the first round pick...i say meh. But at pick #19, in this particular draft, all the useful players were gone imo. Hopefully he can back up Rondo or play some 2.

I wish Tony Allen could shoot a jumper.

MEH ... for me also Boxer.

Seems like a decent pick ... problem is can he play defense enough to give rondo a decent breather on the bench?

there is no question he is an excellent defender...even better than Tony Allen right now. I was hoping for a big man, a rebounder to be specific, but you take what you can get and i guess before the injury, this guy was a lottery pick. All in all, he should be a great defender right away and gets to learn from Rondo...haha, i think i just talked myself into liking him

Well looks like he has no other binky competition right now.

#53 ... Luke 'SkyPlodder' Harangody ... can score and will not challenge Avery for binky status.

6'7" and 240 pounds PF

At the very least he could replace scal as our 'TWG' ... Token White Guy.

We can pair him with Big baby and Pierce and have a retro 60's size front court.

Quote:
Positives

* Terrific low-post scorer
* Excellent rebounder
* Great hands
* Strong, not afraid to bang
* Good motor
* Good midrange game

Negatives

* Not an elite athlete
* Below-average lateral quickness
* Lacks ideal size for his position

We won't know for awhile whether this guy - or any guy drafted - is sticking with their team. There could be a good number of sign and trades - none of which can be announced until early July.

Some teams that have a core of veterans on which to build might be more interested in a sign and trade for a free agent than a bevy of rookies - many of whom are freshmen coming out early to avoid a 2011 lockout.

In short, while there's a lot of talent in this draft, much of the talent remains undeveloped and is @2 years away.

With Bradley, if they keep him - by design or because a trade falls through - they at least have a strong energetic defender off the bench... kindof the Defensive version of Robinson... energy, defense but lacking in the other part of the game.

Interesting that he's a shooting guard but everyone (including myself) sees him giving Rondo a break for 8 minutes a game... I guess that's what happens when you're a shooting guard who can't shoot. Hopefully he can dribble and direct an offense even if he can't put the ball in the hoop.

I'm a bit surprised that some of the pundits are down on this guy - but I guess that's what pundits do

He only averaged a double double his last 2 seasons in the Big East - not exactly the weakest conference in the NCAAs. More than 20 points and 10 sometimes 12 rebounds a game on average.

We should keep in mind that if not for the influx of so many underclassmen in this draft a lot of second rounders would be going in the first round.

So I'm hopeful that the Celts found a big guy to come off the bench in Harangody.

ya, i think he is a really good player...and played well in a great conf. I think he could be in the rotation next season...getting rebounds and whatnot.

Danny Ainge has shown for many years now that he's an excellent draft GM with a good eye for talent. This year was another great draft.

Avery Bradley was the #1 rated HS senior a year ago, even above John Wall. He got stuck with a terrible coach at Texas who mis-utilized him, similar to why Rondo slipped in the draft to #21 after playing in Kentucky. At worst Bradley will be a better version of Tony Allen - a premiere lock down defender who looks for his own shot, but the thing is Bradley actually has a good jump shot (but is terrible at free throws). Bradley could eventually become the successor to Ray Allen in maybe 2 years and form a starting back court with Rondo.

Harangody is probably Notre Dame's best power forward ever. He isn't that athletic and is slow, but he is very physical, isn't afraid to bang down low, and in my opinion has a better touch around the rim than Perkins. If he were 4 inches taller people would be a lot higher on him. He's got a little Barkley in him as a 6 foot 7 power forward who plays bigger than his height..
