Hey guys long time no see or talk for that matter.
Things have been really crazy over the last year and work has all but consumed my life! In a good way!
ANYWAY! Lets get down to business.
Quarterbacks - Nothing really impressive from any of them. Brady made some nice high arching passes and some good accurate throws but the same could be said for any QB with no defense out there.
Brady of course looks phenomenal. Also he is very vocal this early in camp yelling out "hurry up" "lets go" and just plain out screaming alot.
I dont find much appealing about Walter Hoyer or O'Connell for the matter. Just looked average practice going through the motions type of deal.
Running backs - Look maybe its just me but Maroney and Morris took a majority of the "starting snaps" from TB while Fred Taylor and Lawfirm took other reps from the backup.
Maroney looks to just run straight into the huddle now and seems to be copying more of Morris and Taylor model. Just take the ball into the whole and move around after you break through. Maroney looks good now but when doesnt he in camp? I still believe a 3 headed backfield is used.
WR - Moss and Welker look to be hitting their strides already and the 4 man shotgun Had Galloway wide left Moss wide right. Welker short right and Edelmen short left.
Ive got to tell you Edelmen is impressive to watch the guy creates room catches the ball and seems to be shifty enough to gain extra yards, hes also shadowing Welker every where he goes. On a disappointing note i do not feel comfortable with Galloway yet nor do i feel comfortable with Greg Lewis at all. Greg Lewis was cheered for 3 of his catches but the fans dont pay attention to small details. All 3 catches were out of bounds catches. It was actually pretty crappy that he couldnt realize where he was on the field when making those plays. No wonder when Herena Jones let off on his pursuit the guy was 2 yards out when he made contact with the ball. Poor vision on his part he should know alot better.
OL: Sea Bass is a large powerful man. If this guy can get some technique down and learn some leverage he looks pretty enormous. But pardon the pun with great size comes great responsibilty. He still looks OVERLY RAW. The power and size is there but the work into it is not. Side Note Matt Light looks to be in great shape.
DL: Not many guys out there not many big names. Spent lots of time being pushed around and being yelled at for being out of place. Bleh performance lots of improvement to be had
LB: My god i have fallen in love with what looks like our two starting inside LB's Jerod Mayo and Gary Guyton look absolutely phenomenal. Great vision, good size, shed blocks overly well. Saw gaps, filled gaps. Guyton has definitely put on some great weight and it has made him a more complete package. he still also commands very good speed. He is reminding me of a very good young version of Roman Phifer. Pierre Woods looks to be our starting OLB opposite Thomas. But i think he may be injured he came up limping after quite a few plays and looked like he could only walk through plays. Scary. In positive news Paris Lennon looks to be a great backup! Several coaches were praising him for his plays he was making and he looked to be holding his own!
DB: Not much positive news here. Well not much of any news.Terrence Wheatley should be nicknamed Stumbelina because every time he tried to make up ground he stumbles. Moss doped him quite a few times. Honarable mention for #27 Herena Daze Jones, batted away quite a few balls and made some good plays overall. Chung was mostly regulated to backup and st duty.
Belichick MOMENTS!!!!!!
Some funny stuff regarding the boss.
Seemed quite displeased with his DL performance and backup defense. Made several stop plays to go out and re tell the plays and what was supposed to look like. Even said "Stop asking questions and just make the plays"
Pulled Adalius Thomas aside made a few pointers to him then made him take a lap.
"Hurry it up!!! 15 seconds!"
"Get to the 5, 2 minutes"
"stop do it again" (talking to DL)
"offense take a lap" this was confusing because the offense had scored the TD i think it was because Moss punted the ball into the fans after he scored it.
Any thoughts or questions are welcomed!!!
After POST EDIT!!!
Extra stuff i was reminded of by BOR:
Scary moment when 62 Titus Adams tackled Fred Taylor in the knees causing BB to run over and ask "what are you doing? lets keep it to 2 hand down"

Thanks SeanBruschi- you made my day in comparing Guyton to one of my all-time favs- Roman Pfeiffier. Now I have really high expectations for GG.

Thoughts? About damned time you got to work for us.
Questions: Nunn? Anything else along the OL stand out? How did Mayo look in coverage? Nothing from the DL? Aiken? Are you going to let "work" intrude on our critical camp reports again?

Great read. Interesting stuff on Lemon & Stumbelina

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.
This is known as "bad luck." RAH
I was around the 50 and the Greg Lewis catch in front of me was out of bounds.
I thought the one in the endzone was too but My father was near the end zone and told me he was in bounds. (he was in the VIP section and had someone from his business world with him)
I have been really impressed with Lewis so far so I wouldn't take much out of him having been out of bounds once or twice. Galloway I thought started a little slow but the last few practices he had a bunch of really nice catches and has shown his speed...he didn't do much this morning.
I agree with your assesment on Guyton I have thought he looks good so far and he clearly looks bigger.

HAHAH!
Now that you mention it i have a couple of things to add that i didnt jot down.
Some scary moments today. Nunn was leveled by a LB (couldnt make out the number) Titus Adams hard tackled Fred taylor at the knees which caused BB to run over and ask "what are you doing? Lets stick to two hand down"
Dl was miserbale in all honesty. Miserable is the best word.
Aiken was invisible even on coverage duty.
Work will get in the way alot.
Patriots went through walk through plays for first preaseason game

Quite agreed.
Someone said Shanny was there again but i never saw him.
I feel like Edelmen can give a bit more than Lewis can right now. Patriots rolled out alot of short slants and 4 man shotgun plays for the 1st preseason game. Edelmen was always the 4th guy while Lewis watched. Galloway i do agree didnt really do "much" this morning. hard to judge him there.
Very much disagree on this...I had been watching Slater a little to much on STs and made it a point to Follow Aiken on STs this morning and I clearly saw him beat everyone down the field at least twice. And another time he wasn't first but was the one to wrap up the returner.

Well, for what it's worth: Lewis wouldn't have caught the ball out of bounds if it wasn't thrown out of bounds. He's damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. If he catches the ball out of bounds, then he's criticized for doing that. If he lets it go, because it's out of bounds, how long before some crapweasel reporter starts complaining that he can't catch anything?
If the balls are OOBs when Lewis catches them, are they really HIS fault or the fault of the QB throwing him the ball.. If he's 2 yards out, there is almost no way for him, short of being layed out, that he'd catch those and be able to stay in..
