Default Netflix stumble upons?

Between work and family these days I've got little time for tv, and pretty much got rid of all but basic cable knowing that anything I want to see I can find and watch online on demand.

Beyond that I round out my entertainment value with Netflix, and even then find that the numerous tv show length of 22 minutes on average fitting in with my schedule.

I'm wondering if anyone has any good recommendations. I recently stumbled upon a great BBC comedy called "The Worst Week of My Life" that I thought was funnier than the vast majority of crap on tv these days.

It's kind of like "Meet the Parents" on smack.

The Worst Christmas Of My Life - Goose Mishap - YouTube

Speaking of which, another good hardly heard of movie comedy is "Punching the Clown" (it's about a sardonic folk singer who, among other things, has a manager who compares him to "James Taylor on smack" which she thinks is a funny way to describe him until he explains to her that James Taylor really was on smack and it really wasn't funny)

PUNCHING THE CLOWN - MOVIE TRAILER - YouTube

Anyone else have any good Netflix stumble upons to share? i.e. little known or under rated movies or TV shows to recommend?

Netflix keepers for me include:

Four Lions: an incredible British dark satire. It's about four Brits, three of whom are Pakistani, that fancy themselves Jihadists of the highest order. Not at all family friendly, but irredeemably funny.

Father Ted: probably THE best comedy to emerge from the 20th century, focusing on the adventures of three priests on Craggy Island. Of particular note is Speed 3 (yes, a sendup of the Speed movies) and "Escape To Victory," a variation on the Stallone/Pele football film.

MI-5 (better known as Spooks in the UK): Excellent thriller drama spanning 10 series.

Luther: Current police drama with Idris Alba in the title role.

Try and enjoy.

With the exception of MI5 I've never heard of any of these... all seem worth a try

Thanks!

Four Lions is a fantastic film!

And Father Ted is one of my favourite comedies! If you like FT, try The IT Crowd (it's written by the same guy) and I know Netflix has it!

Me and my stumbled across a show that i loved in the 70's called Emergency. My wife had never seen them and loved the show. I got to check out some of the shows recommended here. There was a great show on called Red Dwarf a British comedy from the 90;s that was brilliant but they don't show it any more.

I wouldn't say outright ever, but certainly one of!

For me, The Young Ones beats it!

Boondock Saints and Spun - but only if you have a strong stomach, a taste for the absurd, a love of grit and no small children around.
