Default Convert Quicktime to WMV
So I am trying to convert a quicktime movie I made in iMovie 08 to a WMV file. Anyone know FREE good software for this?

Not many programs do that. Because, well lets face it, WMV is awful. Quicktime Pro does have the option of exporting as a WMV.

While we're discussing geekonics, can someone tell me how to turn a youtube video into an audio file that I can use in my mp3 player, or on a CD? There are many programs that download YT videos .

MPEG STreamclip should work for you. I assume you are using Leopard. But, I believe this version will still work with older versions.

Try a search at www.versiontracker.com. Just use keyword YouTube. Once you have the file you may need to find another program to extract and export the audio to MP3 format.

Yeah, I am using leopard. The problem with qucktime pro is that you need flip4mac to be able to do it - and the free version only allows you to do 30 second clips.

A friend of mine also recommended that software, I'll try it. Thanks!

Ahhggg.... this requires the full version of Flip4Mac. It seems there is no work around.

What do you mean a full version of Flip4Mac? I only have the free Flip4Mac and it worked for me.

Well, the free version of F4M only allows you to convert 30 seconds of the clip. The full version allows how much ever.
