Default Can you Cash a Ripped Check?

I just got a check in the mail and accidentally ripped it when opening the envelope.

The rip is in the middle/bottom, and goes up 1 inch, not even halfway through the check.

It cuts through the first part of the routing number but you can clearly see what the numbers are.

should i tape it together?
should i just show it to the teller and see what she says?

anybody have any experience with this?

Just bring it to the Teller, don't tape it, just bring it there ripped and let her see it how it is, she'll take it that way and tape it herself 99% of the time.

yeah i actually just called my bank and explained it to the girl to see what she would say and she actually told me to tape it so i taped the back and she said they could fix it when i bring it in if it needs it.

so that's good.

that works out...now how do we keep this thread alive since there are only like 4 guys that ever hang out in the Pub and being a "visitor" I try not to spend too much time in the other forum.

I like the Pub. All my moronic threads used to get moved here, so now i just make them here.

It makes the Mods jobs easier too.

some of the best stuff on this site is in the pub... like the beer thread.

I've read the beer thread, well most of it, nothing like the great taste of beer.
