Default GPS advice?

My wife wants a GPS for her birthday (I on the other hand prefer to get lost, drive around in circles and through various gang territories until giving up and going back home). Anyone have any advice on what to get? I want to get her something not too expensive, easy to use, and functional (has useful features). Looks like the 3 main brands are TomTom, Magellan, and Garmin. Any preferences?

Thanks!

I liked the TomTom that I got with my rental car when I was in the U.K. a few years ago. I think it depends on your price point. The TomTom app for the iPhone was just reduced to $39 (USA only) so I am definitely thinking about getting that.

I wonder if they make a GPS in New England that talks in a heavy Maine accent and says, "You can't get there from here."

I use a TomTom when driving around the US and love it. Cheap, simple, and accurate, just like me.
