I never pictured Heath Ledger as the Joker, but it looks awesome!

Me neither, but he really did take on this role full bore. I heard that he holed himself up in a hotel room for a month, just working on and developing his Joker character. He was specifically patterning it away from Nicholson, and using some really really good Batman comics (such as The Killing Joke written by Alan Moore) that had the Joker at all his viscious, anarchistic, criminal greatness. He also apparently brought Clockwork Orange and consciously used Alex, the main character from the film, as an influence. For those of you who haven't seen it, that's a GREAT call by Ledger. Props to Heath for putting all the effort into it that he has. It looks like it really paid off.

Wow, I'm a nerd.
