Default OT: Please take a moment

69 years ago today, Pearl Harbor was attacked in what was the most tragic act of war committed against the United States of America to that point in it's history. 2402 Men and women were killed that day. 1,282 more were wounded. It's a day that changed the course of American history.

Please take a moment to remember the men and women who died this day.

Thank you.

It seems like Pearl Harbor is unfortunately starting to be forgotten about, due to it being so long ago that few were alive to remember it. Not to diminish 9/11, but this was an even bigger event, and a bigger threat to our country.

I don't want to make this political - just want to point out that the old man you see in the store or that gray haired neighbor of yours that responded to Pearl Harbor are true heroes.

Let's all thank the Jets for re-creating last night what it was like for the victims of the attack on Pearl Harbor. 12/06/10, never forget.

Aabtec - Let me pass along my thanks to you. I saw that you had just returned from tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Thank you for your service.

Because it's classy to not be able to take a joke! (It's usually a certain sort of person who complains about 'classy' or 'classless'. Are you one of those people?)

Apple - Did you ever stop to think that there are things you shouldn't joke about?? Someone asking for a time of reflection regarding our men and women in uniform is one of those things.

Absolutely ... still a moving experience for those that visit there.

My dad is a chiseled old air force man who was stationed in Brazil in WWII as an airplane mechanic. he visited the memorial in the 90's and it brought him to tears ... never saw him cry ... ever until that day.
