Default Your favorite (and least favorite) Xmas songs

Yup, it's getting to be that time of year. Here are some of my favorite holiday tunes:

"I Believe in Father Christmas" by Emerson, Lake & Palmer - a nice little tale of a man's disillusionment with the yule tide season. Not exactly the most uplifting song ever recorded, but I love the final line - "Halleujah, Noel, be it heaven or hell, the Christmas we get, we deserve."

"Sleigh Ride" as performed by Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops - a classic, plain and simple. I find the music so much more enjoyable without the lyrics.

"It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas" as performed by Bing Crosby - old-fashioned, yes, but I like it.

"Holly Jolly Christmas" by Burl Ives - ditto.

"The Twelve Days of Christmas" as performed by Bob and Doug McKenzie - the ONLY recording of this song worth listening to. "And a beer... in a tree!"

"Christmas Wrapping" by The Waitresses - pretty much sums up how I feel every year.

"Snoopy's Christmas" by The Royal Guardsmen - yeah okay, so I never totally grew up. Sue me.

Some that I can't STAND:

"Hard Candy Christmas" by Dolly Parton - just plain God-awful. How anyone in their right mind could have heard this and said, "This will make a great record" is beyond me.

"Winter Wonderland" as performed by Eurythmics - I hate this recording of the song so much that for a time I couldn't stand to listen to it done by anyone. Plus the radio station my dad works at (and thus was usually the station we listened to at my house) played the damn thing 80 times a day around Christmas when I was a kid. Hideous.

"Santa Claus is Coming to Town" - I can't stand this song period, whether by Bruce Springsteen, the Ronettes, or anyone. It sucks.

"Run Run Rudolph" by Chuck Berry - another one that my dad's radio station played incessantly when I was a kid, for reasons known only to the DJs and Satan.

"Santa Baby" - Yuck. Another one that's terrible no matter who sings it.

Discuss.

Least favorite: all of them.

Least favorite of the least favorite: dog barking "Jingle Bells".

Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer was funny the first 3 times I heard it. The last 3000 have been taxing.

I'm a sentimentalist. I love all pre 70s Christmas songs and can't stand most post 60s. I don't know that I have a favorite. I mean Holiday music is not really about quality. When I was a kid there was no DVR, or VHS so we got Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer (Rankin - Bass) once a year and it was a BIG deal. So I still look forward to Burl Ives singing those classics.

And you have to love these:
Mr. Hankey's Christmas Classics (Season 3, Episode 15) - Full Episode Player - South Park Studios

Ones I REALLY can't stand:

Mariah Carey Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)
Don Henley Bells will be ringing
Springsteen Santa Claus Is Coming To Town (deserves to be mentioned again)
Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer (edit, sorry dalero I was composing my list as you replied.)
Paul McCartney Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas Time
Happy Christmas War Is Over only because of Yoko.
Do They Know It's Christmas (Band Aid). Enough already.
Hall & Oats All their Christmas songs.

2 more I heard while in my car
Snoopy and The red Baron
Alvin and the chipmunks

I think that's my problem too. I've heard all of these songs 46366312016612971327453547463663120166129713274535 47463663120166129713274535474636631201661297132745 35474636631201661297132745354746366312016612971327 453547 times.

I pretty much agree with Michael here, with one big exception. I really enjoy a lot of TSO's Christmas tunes.

Wizards in Winter
Christmas Eve Sarajevo
Christmas Caanon...

Incredible.

Yeah, I first became aware of them 5 years ago when I saw this on YT
YouTube - Christmas Lights Gone Wild

A coworker took his young song to their concert a few years ago and said it was very good.
