What is thread hijacking?
To me it means when someone has started a thread about a particular topic and someone else leads it into a discussion not really pertaining to the thread topic. Sometimes the off topic discussion is somewhat related but really should have a thread of it's own. Why thread hijacking a bad thing? Maybe not to some but often times I find I am interested in the original topic thread but could really careless about the hijacked topic. But I keep checking back to see if someone has posted information about the original topic. This often waste a lot of time. I am sure I may have been guilty of thread hijacking but I will make a better effort in the future. I think the question any poster should ask before posting in an established thread is: "Is what I am about to post really belong in this thread or should I start a new thread." I may be the only one that feels this way but I think there may be a few others as I have seen references to thread hijacking. This post is just to hopefully raise the awareness thread hijacking. I'm sure many do not intend to hijack threads so a little awareness may help in this matter. (it would be a nice feature of this board software if moderators could easily move a post to a new thread leaving a link saying something like Move to related topic thread ) Last edited by JR4; 12-03-2007 at 01:42 PM.. |

This thread reminds me of the fact that we should be patient with Laurence Maroney.

Does it tend to break down early in the season, and not produce? JK!
