The only one I watch now is The Office.

My favorites would be Cheers and Seinfeld, I guess.

Extras doesn't do it for me but I'll second the British and US "Office" sitcoms as time well spent.

"Arrested Development" is my all time favorite - funny on a whole number of different levels - but one needs to be smart enough to understand the jokes sometimes - which I think is why it failed (it officially "jumped the shark", when guest star Henry Winkler hopped over a dead shark on the dock)

I would guess so - though I "get" the original "office" just find that he's way way over on the "subtle" spectrum with Extra's - I guess I "get" it but its not doing it for me.
