Default OT - Airforce Pats Fan

I know this is way off topic but I'd like to thank Airforce Pats Fan for showing within their signature the links below about breed specific legislation (or bs legislation). Someone told me a few days ago that there was a movement to ban German Shepards in some areas and I couldn't beleive it. To me this is one of the most noble breeds. My family are huge dog lovers and different members of the family have had Dobermans and Rottweilers. They've all been friendly and playful. To ban a type of breed of dog just because there have been too many idiot owners seems pretty backwards to me. Just my two cents...

Thank you, I wasn't expecting that at all, especially on a football forum... The states right now that are in trouble is Texas(trying to lift the statewide no breed ban allowed), Missouri, Kansas, Florida(trying to lift the statewide no breed ban allowed), and quite a few cities and counties across the country are in the process of banning or trying to ban breeds...(pitbulls and rottweilers mainly) It's becoming a epidemic and spreading widely. Since BSL is being brought up, I would like to take the opportunity to say, please be responsible with your dogs, regardless of breeds. If you are having a problem child, I encourage you to find a trainer or behaviorist and enroll you dog in obedience class. Please make sure your dog is safely "contained" if left outside and be responsible. If anyone is interested, I will be glad to post the cities one by one that are considering passing a breed ban. Thank You and God Bless!!

I have an 8 yeard old 100 pound German Shepherd. We did obedience training when we first got him. We also socialized him with people and other dogs at a young age, and as a result he has the best temperment. Young neighborhood kids walking their own dogs can walk up to mine and they have nothing to worry about.

The ignorance of some people is profound.

Google Rottweiler and Pit Bull attacks and see what you get. Something tells me you'll get a few more links.

Also, I'm sure you can find an instance where theres an attack on a child by a squirrel.

Agreed. Breed specific legislation is horrible. It is so senseless to put down animals because a bunch of idiots thought it would be cute to breed their pits and rotties for fighting. Maybe those owners should be put down instead. . .

I found many....your email service must delete "rottweiler attacks" there have been several in the past few weeks alone.

Not many Yorkies or poodles clamp down on a victim with such force that even a baseball bat to the head wont sway them from the attack. I say that if a dog attacks like that, it should be put down and the owner should do time.

Can you please post the links for me so I can forward it on to my BSL group? Thanks!!

Most dogs that attack someone ARE put down, the ones that aren't, aren't pitbulls or rottweilers... I'll go one step further, I think it should be a FELONY CRIME for the owner if their DOG (regardless of breed) attacks or kills someone. Banning breeds is NOT the solution, going after the irresponsible owner is. If a dog owner knows he could face jail time for his dog attacking someone, don't you think he would be proactive in working with his dog and being more responsible, in general???
