Default Run...screaming...from Roto Rooter!

Our old water heater was about to poop the bed, so my wife and I decided to go with Roto Rooter to both deliver and install. The plumber shows up, looks around, and does up the quote. The first thing that struck me was the $55 fee that I would have to pay so he could go back and pick up the water heater, but whatever.

That was nothing. The quote for the hot water heater plus labor was $1,135 including six hundred dollars for labor. I bid him a gentle farewell.

Saturday, I bought the hot water heater from Lowe's for under $350 and installed it myself in about an hour and a half. I assume a pro would have done it even quicker, but even if it took him the same amount of time I was going to be charged $400 a friggin' hour for labor.

Eff Roto Rooter and all the companies like them.

****, you could get one of those fancy-schmancy tankless water heaters installed for less than that!! Had no idea they were such a ripoff.
