Default Doctoral Student (my wife) needs your assistance...yes, YOU!

Lovely Ladies and Rugged Gentlemen of PatsFans:

My wife is preparing her dissertation (that's the final step on the way to a PhD ), and she's in the data collection stage. Please take ten minutes or so out of your day to complete this survey. If you choose to take it, kindly be completely honest, as it is entirely anonymous. Authentic results are of the utmost importance to her research.

If you have any questions you'd like to ask me in private, send me a PM and I'll be happy to talk to you.

Thanks in advance,
dan

Um, not what I was expecting but not long or hard to take.

Best of luck to her. My niece graduated (BA) from Albany last spring and my nephew will graduate next year. Good school.

I got my B.A. in English from there, too.

Thanks, both of you. I really appreciate it.

Was this a Freudian slip?

I was wondering what the study is about. Seems to be aiming toward whether Internet porn encourages pedophilia.

You're in the ballpark. It's not drawing a causal relationship between Net porn and pedophilia, though.

Long live Net porn!

When the survey is finished you must come back and tell us what the thesis is.

I don't see a problem with that at all.

If "Authentic results are of the utmost importance to her research" I don't see how she could possibly use any data collected from here or from any other people she doesn't know.

You'd be surprised...real surprised. Think about what you just said for a second: you just stated that sociological researchers can never get accurate data unless they know people. I'd submit (and researchers would back this up) that culling data from people you know personally is even less reliable.

So, maybe you and I should leave it to the experts, eh?
