when I used to bartend I made a pretty awsome bloody mary - each one to order... no pre-done mix. I'll have to try to remember the exact recipe.

I also was asked to surprise a patron by inventing him a drink on the spot

I called it "2000 Flushes" like that green stuff you put in the toilet.

It was Midori and Bacardi 151

Boy was he surprised!

Another novelty shot - not for getting drunk on but just an interesting combination of flavors is a "tootsie roll"

1/2 Orange Juice, 1/2 Kallua coffee liquor.

Oddly enough it tastes EXACTLY like a tootsie roll.

1/2 shot Blue Curaco

Pour 1-2 ounces of a single malt beverage into a glass.

Nothing better than a properly made Margarita. Nothing worse than the usual stuff they pass off in the bars today, and I won't even mention "frozen Margaritas" as an adult beverage. I could give the typical one to my niece, and she'd still not have had her first alcoholic beverage.

Anyway, if you want the real Margarita recipe, just combine the following in an ice-packed c0cktail shaker:

2 shots of a good tequila (no, I'm not talking Pepe Lopez or Cuervo)
1 shot of Triple Sec, Cointreau, Grand Marnier or Curacao (blue for a blue Margarita), choose only one!
Juice from 1/2 of freshly squeezed lime (about 2 oz.)
1 shot of water

Shake well and strain into a Margarita glass rimmed with salt if desired. Don't do the frozen BS or even on-the-rocks BS. This is a great tasting drink if made right. Note that limes are different sizes, so you can adjust your ingredient portions slightly to get the flavor you like best.

Don't use a mix, as they ruin the drink. Don't add sugar, if you would like the drink to be more sweet, add a bit more of the orange liquor: Triple Sec, Cointreau, etc.

This is a great adult beverage. Sit in a relaxing chair on the deck and enjoy! This will definitely straighten out your head to toes after a long day of work. A couple will make you forget you even have a job!

Now, I could go on and describe the infamous "Upside-down Margarita," but I'll save that for another post.

The perfect recipe:

1 clean glass
1 Guinness tap
Place glass under tap
pull tap, release creamy liquid into glass until about 3/4 full
Stop tap
Let glass of joy settle for a few minutes
Pull tap again until glass is full

The perfect pint

Enjoy.

Ever heard of Bayern?

They make a killer Killarney red lager special for St. Pats.

Yummy...
