I find it hard to think of the term "rest in peace" and "james brown" in the same sentence.
James was so funky even white boys could get down... of course, I always felt like his band never got half the credit they deserved... Anyone who likes JB should make sure they track down some of the CDs of the JB Horns, featuring Fred Wesley, Pee Wee Ellis and of course, Maceo Parker. In fact, if you just want a good sampler CD, pick up Maceo's "Live on Planet Groove" sometime... or for the Jazz lovers, just go with Maceo's "Roots Revisited" But JB as the leader and front man deserves all the credit for quite literally changing the shape of modern music. Every hip hop artist who has made millions by sampling his one-three beat for today's music better be having a lonnnggg moment of silence to pay their respects

Ditto, never really liked everything he did, but liked a lot of his work. He was an innnovator and became an icon.

The lyrics to "Soul Power" might be more appropriate!
