Great tread and some great movie.
1. Apocalypse Now - Francis Ford Coppola I've seen this I don't know how many time and it still gets me can't wait until it comes out on Blu-ray. I like the original over the Redux but I love both, 2. One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest - Milos Forman I can't get over how good very actor is in this movie(some are non-actors), to me Jack Nicholson's best performance. 3. 2001: A Space Odyssey - Stanley Kubrick Every Time I watch this I see something new I haven't seen before. 4. The Godfather - Francis Ford Coppola What can one say about this film that has already been said.I watch the "The Conversation" a 1974 Coppola film and it struck me that this with The Godfather part 2 and Apocalypse are the best four films that any director every did in succession, just increadable. 5.The Lord of the Rings Trilogy - Peter Jackson I loved the book loved the movies. 6. The Empire Strikes Back - Irvin Kershner (not George Lucas) Every scene in this is classic. 7. Pink Floyd The Wall -Alan Parker Great music, visuals and increadable animation. My not be the happiest film every but why does it have to be. 8. Chinatown - Roman Polanski a great film noir Great mystery with great performance all around. Great ending. 9. The Wild Bunch - Sam Peckinpah A very tough movie with the best shootout in movie history. 10. The Searchers - John Ford My favorate John Wayne film.

Interesting (and surprising). I thought I'd do a list of 10 that no one else has named -- and only American movies.
1. Animal House 2. Blazing Saddles 3. The Big Lebowski 4. M.A.S.H. 5. Citizen Kane Can't believe that no one chose one of those! 6. Bad Day at Black Rock 7. Annie Hall 8. On the Waterfront 9. The African Queen 10. The Maltese Falcon If I'd had a free choice, I'd have probably added the Godfathers and maybe Some Like It Hot. All great movies!

Pulp Fiction would DEFINITELY make my 11-20 list with every opportunity to crack the top ten on any given day. Reservoir Dogs would also make the list too.

Indeed. I watched it again today. The final scene with Paul Newman and Tom Hanks in the rain is phenomenal. It's amazing. There are only four words of dialogue in that entire scene, and it's still one of the most powerful and well done scenes in cinema that I have ever witnessed. With that in mind...
11. Pulp Fiction (1994): Starring Samuel L. Jackson, John Travolta, and Bruce Willis. Directed by Quentin Tarantino. 12. Gladiator (2000): Starring Russell Crowe, Joaquin Phoenix, and Connie Nelson. Directed by Ridley Scott. 13. The Dark Knight (2008): Starring Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, and Aaron Eckhardt. Directed by Christopher Nolan. 14. Forrest Gump (1994): Starring Tom Hanks, Gary Sinise, and Robin Wright. Directed by Robert Zemeckis. 15. Fight Club (1999): Starring Edward Norton, Brad Pitt, and Helena Bonham Carter. Directed by David Fincher. 16. Children of Men (2006): Starring Clive Owen and Michael Caine. Directed by Alfonso Cuaron. 17. Tombstone (1993): Starring Kurt Russell, Val Kilmer, and Sam Elliot. Directed by George P. Cosmatos. 18. The Shawshank Redemption (1994): Starring Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman. Directed by Frank Darabont. 19. Mystic River (2003): Starring Sean Penn, Tim Robbins, and Kevin Bacon. Directed by Clint Eastwood. 20. Gangs of New York (2002): Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Daniel Day-Lewis, and Cameron Diaz. Directed by Martin Scorsese.
