Default Flying without

I figure the only place I could fly without my body lotions, shampoo, mousse and gel deodorants and not feel self-concious would be France.

I mean I'm American so they hate me anyway. What does it matter if I'm smelly and oily? I would probably fit right in.

I'll treat all Euro vacations like a camping trip.

If it increases my chances of arriving I'm all for it. (As a matter of interest, do you use your shampoo during the flight? Wow!)

No but I'm not always fond of hotels sample 'poos. It might just push me to rid myself of the rest of my hair.....

I'll be more serious about the matter in 2 weeks when I do have to fly.

I'm not sure I'm overly thrilled to pack away my cell and 'other' valuables in my checked luggage though.

I haven't followed this closely, but are you not going to be allowed to have this stuff even in your checked baggage?

I'm just three weeks away from flying to the U.S. (but not on one of the targeted airlines) so I'm feeling a bit edgy. I would certainly not mind U.S. airlines getting a bit more serious about checking hand baggage.

US flights are saying no liquids of any kind on carry on (except meds and baby formula).

This what I saw about British flights:

Passengers traveling to the United Kingdom should contact their airline for information about any extra security measures or precautions that might be required. Laptop computers, mobile phones and iPods are among items banned on British flights.

If medications are allowed on planes, then what is the point of excluding liquods then? Terrorists could just make weapons that look like medicine.

The meds will be checked and there'll be very few of them. You may well get pulled aside for a special security interview and asked for medical evidence that you need it during the flight. I don't think that they'll be happy with bottles of cough syrup.

Otherwise, there will be absolutely nothing carried on, except your passport and papers (visa, etc.) Parents with babies are being asked to drink from the baby's bottle to show that it really is milk!

Look at this:

CABIN LUGGAGE ALLOWED
Pocket-sized wallets/ purses, plus contents
Passports/ travel tickets
Prescription medicines, not in liquid form unless verified as authentic
Essential medical items, eg diabetic kit
Glasses & sunglasses, no cases
Contact lens holders, no solution
Baby food & milk for those with infants - bottle contents must be tasted by accompanying passenger
Essential sanitary items for infants
Female sanitary items, unboxed
Tissues, unboxed, or handkerchiefs
Keys, but no electric key fobs

Something tells me that the authorities are taking this SERIOUSLY.

How will that stop terrorists from creating a solid pill-like weapon that can be dissolved in water once on board?

My point is, if terrorists want to kill people, they WILL find a way.

The only long term solution to this problem is to address the ROOTS of the problem and fix them, not just deal with the symptoms.

It would be helpful to think about why terrorists hate us (Isreal), what they want, why they are willing to fight in such a desparate way, and how we can end this threat without killing off all Muslims (a billion plus people).

First the airlines need to fire all of the bag 'tossers.'

Then they need to recruit and pay a professional staff of baggage 'handlers.'

Then they need to banish any bag bigger than what a chick might take out on a date to the cargo hold, short of critical/medical type stuff of course.
