Default Johnnny B. Goode

Light bulb on

I ran accross the score for this song and noticed it was written by
Chuck Berry in 1958.

Now Back to the Future when Marty played it at the dance in 1955.
Makes sense when guy held up phone to Chuck ...
.. that new sound you're looking for .... listen to this!

What can I say some are slower than others.

Well, they kindof hit you over the head with it, as it was Marvin Berry's band playing at the dance

I guess that's just one of those generational things that most younger audiences would miss - but no doubt, Chuck Berry did nearly invent rock himself

Wikipedia is amazing!

I checked because I wanted to see if Little Richard came after Chuck Berry. Turns out that they both recorded their first real "rock and roll" records in 1955 -- "Tutti Frutti" by Little Richard and "Maybelene" by CB. Must have been quite a year! (By the way, I didn't know that "tutti frutti" was slang for a gay man and that, originally, the first line was "Tutti frutti, good booty" which was changed to "Tutti frutti, aw rooty".)

As if "Little Richard" wasn't itself a double entendre.

I saw Little Richard perform once years ago in a free concert at the Hatch shell in Boston. Members of his entourage handed out little Bible reference books to the crowd after the show.

Don't tell me what "A-womp-bop-a-loo-mop-a womp-bam-bom!" means ...
