It was bizarre. I can only assume that Materazzi said something really insulting. Even so, it was an unbelievably stupid thing to do.

He was probably frustrated from being molested most of the game. He was way out of line though, he should have known better and kept his cool.
However, that red card was one of the most entertaining I've seen. He head-butted him like a dinosaur and completely flattened the guy. . |

That was the greatest headbutt of all time. The guy went flying back about 5 feet. I think Zidane has a career on the UFC waiting for him.
