).I make France strong favourites against Portugal -- not just because I have hated the way that Portugal play the game. They were poor against England while France, after a very slow start, were excellent against Brazil.

Germany historically (see 1970 and 1982) 'suffer' us a lot... it will be necessary a top and well playied game for us to beat, in Germany..., the 'owner of the house'. still i think that Italy has the possibility to win that game. Portugal-France ?. PT recovers Deco and Costinha if i'm not wrong - so: a difficult task also for France... Last edited by SoonerPatriot; 10-09-2005 at 11:52 PM.. |

Right about both -- not to mention that Italy absolutely thrashed Germany in the warm-ups to the WC. So I only have a slight feeling for Germany over Italy and wouldn't be surprised if it went the other way.
Maybe it's my emotion in relation to Portugal (how could you not hate them after the Holland game?) but I think it will take more than Deco and Costinha to turn them into a rival to France -- if France continue to play as they have just started to.

The winner of the World Cup will come from the Germany/Italy game. I do not believe either Portugal or France will be good enough to beat the winner of that game.
Personally I hope, and believe, it will be Italy. Because of what is happening back home, with the 'cheating' inquiry, and the sad situation concerning Gianluca Pessotto, I think there is a mental toughness about them and a real togetherness. But,what a game! To beat the Germans on home soil. Game of the tournament, no doubt. |

Wow. Congrats to the Azzuri! They thoroughly deserved that, from what I saw.
