Most Enjoyable Fireworks In Your Area - New England Patriots Forums

Notice...I did not say the best...I said the most enjoyable. But how about listing the best and the most enjoyable if they are different.

Let's face it...the major cities can put on awesome displays. Boston lighting off fireworks while the Pops plays. Philly, New York etc...these cities know how to spark them up.

Anyways...how about some secret areas to watch the big ones. Or local fireworks done right with little traffic, great view and a minimum of morons who are drunk or no morons at all.

Share your secrets here...never saw a thread like this here...so here's your chance.

BEST IN MY AREA:
McCoy Stadium home of the Pawtucket Red Sox...these guys throw up some major fireworks...traffic is horrible and lots of drunks on the sideroads when walking there.

MOST ENJOYABLE IN MY AREA:
Gov. Notte Park on Douglas Pike in North Providence, RI. Every year there's a jazz band...you get to meet up with lost contacts because most of the town is there. Anyone with kids knows how hectic life can be...so it's great to go and just look for friends you've missed...they are all there.

We pack a cooler...lots of food and Mountain Dew. We throw a couch and some bean bags in the back of the Ram...hob-knob for 3 hours and then settle in on the couch for the fireworks. The fireworks are just short of being as good as McCoy...usually 40-45 minutes with no drunk factor and no long walk factor through neighborhoods. Fireworks go off over a small river...real homey and lots of fun.

PARK ON THE NORTHBOUND SIDE OF RT.7...YHOU'LL BE OUT OF THERE IN LESS THAN 5 MINUTES.

Its a lot of fun watching the fireworks on the river here in Boston. Its much too crowded on shore but my brother-in-law has a boat at a club along the river so we got it pretty easy. Plenty of beer and food, no need to use one of those putrid portajohns and hardly any traffic on the way out.

We went to the fireworks on the Charles River two years ago. The hotel we stayed in had a package deal for the fireworks and we were able to watch them right from our balcony. It was great, no crowds, no driving, clean bathrooms, lots of ice for the beer plus the kids could stay in the room watching movies until the fireworks started so we didn't have to repeatedly hear "When do they start? When do they start?" It was great. Seeing the crowds, I'd have to imagine that watching them from the boat would be the next best thing.

We take our boat up to Hartford for their fireworks. Usually a couple of guys from our club will go up early in the day and anchor right outside of the safety zone (front row "seats") and the rest of us will have a family cookout first and then head up around 5 or 6 and raft up. We have a great time and everything is right at hand including clean facilities when needed! I usually take my parents with me so between them, my wife, or myself we've always got a designated driver. The key is to wait an hour or so after the show and let the mad rush disperse before heading back to the cove (or just stay over night). Every town and city along the river has a police boat and fireboat, so between them and the DEP and Coast Guard there is plenty of BUI enforcement on the river.

With the casinos getting involved financially, there is a pretty damn good show! They do have a carnival and stuff on the shore but it gets way too crowded.

In Atlanta, the places to be are:

Stone Mountain Park, where you can watch fireworks and a laser light show over a big rock with Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee, and Jefferson Davis carved in the side. Pure redneck fun (incidentally, also the site where the KKK was founded). www.stonemountainpark.com

Lenox Square Mall, where fireworks are shot from the Macy's building. It's been going on for almost 40 years. It finishes the day, which begins with the largest 10K road race in the world (over 55,000 people), right down Peachtree St.

Centennial Olympic Park, downtown, also has some fireworks.

I can see Disneyland's fireworks from my house. It's a few miles away but we can see them pretty good. The most enjoyable are the legal ones I do in my street. Some of the new ones are pretty cool, my 9 year old daughter loves them, and I don't have to deal with the crowds.

It took me quite a few viewings of the title to get why you were asking the question at the end of June. I shall award myself some bricks!

The best ones I saw were on the River Thames (on the South Bank for those who know London), celebrating the Millenium. They really were something else, set off from barges on the river itself.

Hey! You're not wrong!

Our fireworks are more cosy and domestic: in the back yard, with the bonfire and parkin and plot toffee ... sparklers and firecrackers ... Hovis and Bovril ... llttle lads in flannel trousers with long woolly mufflers ... dandelion and burdock ... pennny for the Guy ... firecrackers throught the letterbox --oops! ... pointless rambliing.
