Default Total Recall - REMAKE

Total Recall remake lined up by Kate Beckinsale's director husband
30 July 2010, by Joanne McCabe (Metro.UK)
Total Recall remake lined up by Kate Beckinsale's director husband | Metro.co.uk

Excerpt:

A remake of 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger action classic Total Recall is being lined up by Underworld and Die Hard 4.0 director Len Wiseman, aka Mr Kate Beckinsale.

Columbia Pictures secured the rights to the sci-fi thriller last year, with Kurt Wimmer - writer of Angelina Jolie flick Salt - brought on board for the screenplay.

In the original, based on Philip K Dick's 'We Can Remember it For You Wholesale' and directed by Paul Verhoeven, Arnie famously played a man haunted by a recurring dream about travelling to Mars.

A sequel of some sort would have been better. I liked that movie alot, but it seems a little young for a remake.

It does seem young, but it's been 20 years surprisingly.

For the record, I'm pretty much against a remake, especially by someone affiliated with Underworld or Die Hard 4.

This genius move was followed by trading out of a spot where they could have gotten the last decent receiver in Robert Ferguson and settled for tackle Matt Light, who will not help any time soon.”

This will probably be absolute garbage, if his prior films are any indication.

They are starting to remake alot of movies from 1980-1990(when I was a kid/teen) - 1984's "Red Dawn" remake is coming out this Fall. I believe the villains will be the Chinese(the last time it was the Russians).

"Total Recall" was one of those movies with a very lousy script, but it was eye candy to watch.

It was pretty cool for the times though. I'm somewhat curious about the Red Dawn remake. As a kid during the 80's Cold War era, that movie kinda hit home. The 20-somethings of today probably can't grasp what some of these movies were like, since they either grew up without a rival Russia, or with the existence of daily technologies like PC's & mobile phones.

Sequal kinda wouldn't work with the way they ended the first one.

Now a prequal that sets up all the oddities in the storyline from the first film might work
