Total Recall remake lined up by Kate Beckinsale's director husband
30 July 2010, by Joanne McCabe (Metro.UK) Total Recall remake lined up by Kate Beckinsale's director husband | Metro.co.uk Excerpt: A remake of 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger action classic Total Recall is being lined up by Underworld and Die Hard 4.0 director Len Wiseman, aka Mr Kate Beckinsale. Columbia Pictures secured the rights to the sci-fi thriller last year, with Kurt Wimmer - writer of Angelina Jolie flick Salt - brought on board for the screenplay. In the original, based on Philip K Dick's 'We Can Remember it For You Wholesale' and directed by Paul Verhoeven, Arnie famously played a man haunted by a recurring dream about travelling to Mars. A sequel of some sort would have been better. I liked that movie alot, but it seems a little young for a remake.

For the record, I'm pretty much against a remake, especially by someone affiliated with Underworld or Die Hard 4.

This will probably be absolute garbage, if his prior films are any indication.

"Total Recall" was one of those movies with a very lousy script, but it was eye candy to watch.

Now a prequal that sets up all the oddities in the storyline from the first film might work
