And with beer, that's very important.

Although generally I agree, I don't go there either.

I saw one mention of 5 guys, one opened near me recently, does anyone else have an opinion of them?

My wife and I were just commenting on the fact that almost everyone here has mentioned a dislike for Applebees. My daughter, who is now 14 but was 7 at the time we went, just said, "Yes - they even ruined my grilled cheese. It was disgusting."

Good to know it wasn't just me

I'll throw one out there for anyone who eats at Gillette. We went to "Skipjack's" before the U2 concert and it was absolutely fantastic - albeit a bit pricey. Also a fan of the '99 for chains.

Otherwise I appreciate all the feedback. Feel free to fire off anymore that you think of and add it to this list. Also - for anyone who went on any road games, I'd be curious to know if you found any good places around the stadium you went to that's worth mentioning as well.

I guess you don't want my fine dining tips for Berlin (too numerous to mention) or Oxford, UK (Jamie's Italian is very good, though, if you're ever passing through) but I'm here in Cambridge, MA for a week and have been/will be eating out a lot.

In the last couple of days I've been to:

Casablanca, Brattle Street
Kebab Factory, Kirkland Street
Grafton Street, Mass. Ave.
Temple Bar, Mass. Ave. (sister joint to Grafton Street)

All decent, none to die for.

I know that I'll be going to Chang Sho, Mass Ave. (not very good, but above average for local Chinese)

If someone else would pay, I'd take a meal at Upstairs on the Square (very good, but way over-priced)

For value for money, nothing beats the Punjabi Dhaba, Hampshire Street

Of the chains I can think of, the only one I can remember going to more than once is:

Boca Grande, Mass. Ave.

Not an expert on Mexican food, but it's close and it seems decent value.

Fred and Steve's Steakhouse( Twin river, Lincoln RI) has a mean prime rib, their veggies and desserts also rock. Service is superb.

My favorite local place, Governor Francis Inn, Warwick, RI...everything is good and cheap.

Camille's On Federal Hill in Providence. Prepare to be catered to.

And again, Iggy's in Warwick......Lobsta roll, fries, chowda, and clamcakes...for around 12 bucks in the summa

I didn't realize you were looking for regular visits and chains.

The only two chains I've been to in the last several years are:

Panera's (the once a month I go shopping)
Mcdonald's (but that's another story, usually when blood-sugar is low and brain isn't working, once every 3 months)

anyway...I was gonna make a post about 7 Moons in North Kingstown yesterday but I'm pretty busy getting geared up for the fishing season so I put it off.Went to Dave's Market in Quonset tonight and decided to get a bite to eat with the GF and her mom...pull into the 7 Moons parking lot about 6:30...the lot is entirely filled...there's a line in the door and all the waiting seats are taken...jamming big time...on a Tuesday freakin' night...needless to say, I was pi$$ed.

I've been to the Orient, Australia, South America, Thailand, Europe, the islands..you name it...Seven Moons is one of the most eclectic dining experiences you could ever want. As of the past two years, the ONLY Asian restaurant in R.I. still getting and preparing toro, the fatty tuna that is prized above all other sushi, not even Haruki, which specializes in Japanese cuisine ,serves toro anymore. Here's a link to the menu...you'd have to eat here for years to eat everything they offer...and I've NEVER had a bad or ill prepared dish here ...EVER.

Projo.com - Seven Moons menu

The name Seven Moons refer to the menu and the food of seven nations. Check it out if you're ever near the beaches in R.I., it's about 20 minutes from Newport over the two bridges.

Cool! Duke's the best. Standup guy too from what I understand.

I remember way back to Middlebridge... I'm pretty sure Duke invented the SOB.

He's a culinary genius as far as I'm concerned.
