Sorry, mods. I know this doesn't belong here. However, the off topic forum is normally dead and this is where we get most of the action.

State agency to probe fatal Florida boating accident - CNN.com

Read the link and please keep these people in your prayers (or thoughts if you do not pray). One of them is my friend Karey and she is in the hospital at the moment in serious condition. I was actually supposed to be on this boat myself but, thank goodness, I got called into work and needed the money. The link will tell you that toxicology reports will be released but I can tell you right now that whomever was driving the boat was under the influence which would explain this horrific accident. Whether it's wrong or not, five people aged 19-21 are dead and seven are injured with three being in critical condition. I will give updates on Karey's condition as well as the condition of everyone else aboard (not even sure who everyone else was yet) as I get the details.

Thanks for letting us know. And, prayers for your friend. Here's a link to a local newspaper with some more information on the tragedy. I hope your friend is among those who are doing OK.

Oh God, I had no idea there was a kid on that boat as well. I'm so happy I decided to skip that trip, you have no idea. As for Karey, she is doing alright now. Contrary to my previous report, she wasn't in serious condition (my friend just called me back and told me that was just a rumor). She did suffer a few broken bones though, the worst of which was a broken femur which, apparently, required surgery. She's VERY fortunate though considering the cirumstances. My thoughts and prayers are with the rest of the victims and their families.

Wow, Kontra... I'm glad you weren't on that boat too. My best to everyone involved, it's just an awful situation.
