Default 59-vehicle pileup closes NH highway, 12 injured

I know plenty of people who live in that area. Including family. I hope none of them were involved.

DERRY, N.H.—A 59-vehicle pileup on snowy Interstate 93 sent a dozen people to hospitals Sunday morning and temporarily shut down a stretch of the highway's northbound lanes.

59 cars? That's weather arrogance at work IMO. Too many pickups and SUV's with 4 wheel drive pretending like its June, doing 70mph 3 car lengths behind the car in front of them. It was all snow here in Boston for that storm, no sleet or slippery slush. Derry being north and west, they should have had easy (but still requiring common sense) driving conditions.

That stretch of road is particularly notorious. It's 2 lanes from Salem and people ride your ass if you're not doing 75-80. I've never seen a car pulled over for speeding on that stretch of highway. And I've been driving in that area for over 20 years. So I guess it's to be expected.

i tell people now that ive lived in New England, South Carolina, and Kansas, that South Carolina drivers are the most incompetant drivers ive ever seen but they are polite, Kansas drivers are polite but not as skilled as New Englanders, and that New England drivers are the most competant, the most skilled, and the most evil drivers ive ever seen! they can swerve to avoid a squirral and they will run you down for fun.
