Probably alot riskier, too. But I have been to some karaoke bars here where the "hostesses" are just absurdly talented.

I thought it was custom in China that the Birthday person gives gifts, not receives gifts. So maybe they thought he bought the cake for them. But, that does not make a very funny story. Sorry if I killed it.

Maybe they figured the round eye (you) would say to himself self "gee I never knew that" I'm picking up the culture faster than I thought.
