Default 2013 Defensive Tackles

Looks like a strong class with as many as 5 first round picks.

The Patriots could use some depth on the interior especially if the big boy can create some pressure.

5? I'd say more likely 8-9 top-40 guys if you count underclass men:

- Star Lotulelei, Utah
- Johnathan Hankins*, Ohio St .
- Louis Nix**, Notre Dame
- John Jenkins, Georgia
- Jesse Williams, Alabama
- Sheldon Richardson*, Missouri
- Kawann Short, Purdue
- Shariff Floyd*, Florida
- Sylvester Williams, North Carolina

Lot of talented beef there.

So are the Pats moving away from the traditional 3-4 D linemen and now using both our DT's to play a two gap style upfront. Are we going to go with a quick penetrating under tackle?

I am confused on where we are heading at this position.

We don't have a quick penetrating under tackle. That's why we need one. This defense doesn't make a good fit if you don't have that. We need an interior pass rush. If we're modeling a line after the Giants. We need a Justin Tuck type to get pressure from that 3 -technique. Probably, our top need. I love Matt Elam. But, can't complain if we got a good dt. Kyle Love is one of those guys who when asked to play a full time role exposes him limitations. Very strong at the point of attack. Can't move outside of a phone booth. Better served as a 1st down player. Ron Brace hasn't worked out. Deaderick seems like a decent backup. Like K. Love.

I'm not as down on our LDE prospects as Brother Mayo. Ninko has had a fabulous season. Cunningham has been ok. We have two prospects in Bequette and Francis. Plus, I think that's where Hightower ends up if we keep Spikes.
