Russ Lande is at NFP now?! I wasn't the biggest Bunting fan in the world, but that's a huge downgrade.

I love John Boyett. People say he lacks speed. Frankly, that doesn't matter at all, since his play recognition skills are so terrific that he always knows exactly where to be. A lot to like there.
Dexter McCoil is definitely a guy worth keeping an eye on. Before this season, when I watched him, he was an incredibly rangy safety with good athleticism, incredible length, and awesome ball skills. His effort and toughness was subpar, and he lacked bulk, but his frame oozed potential. I haven't gotten a chance to see him in 2012 yet, but he apparently added 20lbs this offseason, and, if it was 20lbs of toughness, you could be talking about a future pro-bowl safety. His physical skill set and ball skills were that impressive.
Georgia has the best safety tandem in college football in Bacarri Rambo and Shawn Williams. Rambo may have off the field issues, but his motor and toughness is terrific, and that's something to build on. He's great in every other aspect of the game. Williams is mistake free against the pass, a playmaker against the run. He's one of the most underrated players in this draft class.
California PA safety Rontez Miles is a stud. It may be DII competition, but, according to my notes, he can do no wrong.
"Rontez Miles #9 senior safety Kent State transfer average height above average bulk solid speed average numbers got 71 tackles and 5 interceptions in 2011 stats suggest he has solid hands really hard hitter loves to go for big hits instead of making sure tackles excellent strength phenomenal football speed can take guys out by their legs California (Pennsylvania) uses a 4-2-5 really strong fearless tackler excellent instincts plays hard good in coverage awesome against the run awesome body control really long arms impressive length and range great tackler really impressive instincts in coverage can read the quarterback’s eyes very quick accelerates quickly plays really hard looks impressive may be DII competition but he looks close to flawless really hard hitter could get defenseless receiver penalties in the NFL really strong fast and powerful really good playmaker rarely misses tackles tough but could still improve tackling fundamentals never seems to make mistakes in coverage impressive range in coverage hard hitter disguises his assignment brilliantly hides his intentions to cover for blitzing nickelbacks with ease looks brilliant good tackler doesn’t wrap up too well and will allow yards after contact but really can take out a guy’s legs can make tackles from behind excellent in run support prevents big plays good tackler excellent instincts in coverage so fast intimidating to running backs that see him coming needs to learn to wrap up takes ideal angles to the ball stops all screen plays could do no wrong against St. Cloud State could be more physical when does wrap up transferred because of poor grades recruited to SEC schools but went to Kent State to play alongside his stepbrother pretty tough plays hard could improve hand usage needs to learn how to fight off blocks and use his hands looks perfect plays hard good tackler great instincts really quick accelerates quickly can make plays in coverage long arms"
There's a video on Mackenzie's recommendation Rontez Miles just become available. It's hard to judge how good he is in coverage despite getting 2 ints but he takes terrific angles on the ball carrier and tackles very well. Interesting late rounder.
Carradine in the 2nd and Ansah in the 4th would be almost perfect
I have a feeling Ansah goes early, and to the Giants of all teams. Osi doesnt have a future with them, and a super raw prospect like JPP was a home run for them, I dont see them passing up Ansah unless they have an absolutely dire need somewhere else.

Was just watching the Syracuse/ UConn game and Pugh really stood out to me. First the negatives:
1. Size - Only 292lbs. He held up well to bull rushes but he's not going against NFL size linemen playing UConn.
2. Value. Unless Vollmer is not re-signed, he'll probably be a bit rich stock wise. I really don't see him lasting until our 3rd round pick. CBS have him as a 3-4 rounder for now, but I see him battling Aboushi and Eric Fisher in the second round, possibly as high as a first rounder.
Positives:
1. Very quick feet either dropping in to pass coverage or getting to the second level in the run game.
2. Great work ethic. Will look for a second block if left free. If has problems with his block, doesn't give up but really tries to get back on his man.
3. While he lacks ideal strength, it doesn't really show. Won't be a road grader but gets on his block in the run game and walls defenders off very effectively. Probably won't drive a NT back 5 yards but will move him enough to create a hole.
Despite him only being 292 lbs, I was watching his athleticism and thinking he'd make a really good OG. He will have to add weight though. As a swing OT or a future OG, I think he's an outstanding prospect, unfortunately I think he'll go towards the back end of the 2nd round. If he's there when we pick in the 3rd round, he'd be an outstanding selection.

Will he be better than Kyle Long, who is my official O-line binkie this draft? Also, Long is expected to go much later in the draft than the 2nd or 3rd, what is the opportunity cost of seclecting Pugh that highly?

Does Kyle Long actually play? Genuinely not sure but the impression I get is that he's a backup for Oregon. If so, he's quite the project and would probably be nothing more than worthy of the practice squad for the first year or two. Haven't watched the Oregon OL so can't comment that much.
Pugh on the other hand is someone who could see serious reps early on as a backup OL/OG with short term starter upside.
Not saying he'll be better than Long in the long-term but almost certainly will in the short-term.

It's possible, but Ansah has a ways to go before that happens. And if it does, there are always other options.
Dan Kadar of Mocking the Draft had this update on SMU DE Margus Hunt recently:
Quote:
The athletic giant has had an inconsistent career, but his 6-foot-8, 280-pound frame remains intriguing. It was a good game to watch Hunt, who holds the NCAA record for blocked kicks with 10. Although it was against a suspect Houston offensive line, Hunt was getting a good push throughout the night. It's clear his best move is a bull rush, but he has quick enough feet to beat blockers to the inside gap. Hunt had two sacks on the game and four quarterback hurries. It's as good as Hunt has looked since the BBVA Compass Bowl last season.
A couple of months ago Hunt was the latest flavor du jour on this board and many others for a freakish talent with unlimited upside at LDE. He's sort of fallen off the radar. It's easy to fixate on one prospect. Ansah may have freakish ability, but there are a lot of freak athletes out there, and a relatively small percentage actually realize their potential. I'm not saying he shouldn't be someone to watch closely and a high prospect of interest, but I doubt the success of our 2013 draft will depend on whether we land any single prospect. A year ago Chandler Jones was on no one's radar.
