Here's my idea on how to replace Brady. We enter the Summer of 2016 fresh off of winning our 3rd Super Bowl in 4 years. 6 for Brady and Belichick. Tommy announces his retirement and heads off to Brazil with Giselle for the Summer Olympics. White Wes and Vince retire with him.

That summer the Tea Party storms out of the Republican Convention and decides to nominate Bill Belichick for President. Flabbergasted, he accepts. The Russkis will really be worried about our spy network now. Putin puts Russia in Defcon 2 and enlists Ovechkin, Malkin, Kovalchuk and Yakupov in his new EOD skating teams. US has their seals. He has his polar bears.

A confluence of things happens at the same time. Ryan Mallett is arrested for having a Meth lab in his condo. Robert Kraft hops on a jet and tries to talk TFB out of retirement.
However, he falls in love with one of Gisele's friends and stays in Brazil a few months longer than expected.

Belichick names son Steven his replacement. Jonathan Kraft becomes GM. They sign Jamarcus Russell to qb our Pats.

Rob Gronkowski takes a year off to join Professional Surfers Tour. Someone spikes Ahern's brownies with hash and the league pops him for a year.

Patriot fans are distracted by Belichick's failed presidential run. Someone has to replace Obama. Amidst all of the distractions. The squad goes 1-15 and garners the first pick in the 2017 draft. There's your qb.

Mr. Kraft struggles with Portuguese and returns in the spring of 2017 with Tom Brady who wants to go for number 7. Belichick sends Steven abroad to further his education and the Krafts re-hire Bill. Spicoli..err...Gronk returns lamenting the waves and tasty brews weren't what he thought. AHern returns looking like Ray Lewis circa 2000. All is well.

Maybe, I've read a few too many Robert Ludlum books

@Wilfork75

Nice to have you back and mocking, Mocks are personal things so whilst I have to say that I'm not a fan, if you are, that's all that matters. I'm happy to give you a more detailed breakdown of why I'm not keen if you want but I'm not sure you need it. These picks look like personal favourites of yours and that's what matters.

FWIW I quite like the Rogers and Williams picks

Anyway great to have you back and mocking.

Ok, I don’t expect anyone to understand or like this pick, but this is my guy. One of the hardest things in the NFL is to find a QB that you truly believe in. I believe in Matt Barkley. He has a solid physical skill set, but unmatched intangibles by any QB prospect I’ve seen since following the draft. He has solid physical tools and enough arm to make all the throws, but the character, makeup and leadership to be special. I have never seen a college QB with the same kind of pocket awareness that Barkley has. The way he moves around inside the pocket, is able to avoid pressure and get the ball out quickly while always keeping his eyes down the field reminds me of Tom Brady. He is also a 4 year starter and the first true sophomore ever named team captain at USC, so he is extremely mature and shows good leadership. I don’t know what more you could look for in a franchise QB. If he is somehow there at the end of the 1st round I would not hesitate to draft him. If I was KC I would draft him #1 overall.

Now you might think that taking a QB in round 1 is crazy, but I think now is a great time. I think the Mallet pick was a few years early because he will be a free agent the same time Brady’s contract runs out. Drafting Barkley now I think could be an Aaron Rodgers like situation where he sits for a few years, even though he may be ready now, but is able to step right in without missing a beat in 2 or 3 years time.

I know a lot of people will look at Matt Barkley and automatically make the Mark Sanchez comparison, but I don’t think that’s fair. Sanchez was a 1 year starter, under a different coaching staff in a completely different system. He also arguably had better talent around him, especially on the offensive line compared to Barkley this season. Add in inconsistency and durability concerns and Sanchez was a very risky pick. On the other hand Barkley started as a true freshman and finished with 47 career starts. He showed unbelievable maturity and loyalty with the way he handled the NCAA sanctions against USC and the mess Pete Carroll left. He is much more polished, better tested and better suited to being a franchise NFL QB than Sanchez was. I wouldn’t expect anyone to really understand this pick, but having watched him closely over the past 2 years I really believe in Matt Barkley as a franchise QB.
Nooooooooooooooooooo!

I don't like Barkley, but even if I did I wouldn't take him in the first. I think Brady will not only play out this contract but also an extension. Brady has shown that even at 35 he isn't slowing down.

The rest of the draft is good enough for me.

Also the last pick in the third round is 94, not 96. The Saints and Browns second rounders were forfeited.

Here's a pretty damn good mock. Courtesy of Charlie Campbell over at Walters.

1. Jon Cooper - G - UNC - I don't think a need. Just too good to pass up.
Thinks he might be athletic enough to move to C.

2. Jesse Willams - NG - Bama Falling all the way to 60? Would rather have a penetrator. But
again, too good to pass up here.

3. Ryan Swope - WR - Texas a&m Pretty good receiver. Watched him a lot last year when checking Tannehill out. And, again this year with Johnny Football.
