Default Stephon Gilmore CB/FS?

Stephon Gilmore Highlights - 2011 South Carolina Game****s - YouTube

Seems to me that Gilmore would be a natural at FS. This guy loves contact.

I'd rather he bulked up a little more to start but I love the guys all-round skills. Was really underwhelmed with his speed so I'm not sold on him as a corner...his recoverys peed is pretty poor which some Corners make up for their lower straight line speed with. He's doesn't have the wquickest feet and has a poor transition from his back pedal which is sloppy at best.

I like him as a free safety if he bulks. I'd be worried with how physical this guy can get for a sustained amount of time. I love his effort. He reportedly puts a lot into the film room and is excellent at breaking down opposing offenses.

Zone an ball skills are excellent. Love how he breaks on the ball. He could be a FS, but he needs to be heavier and bulkier.

I'm not sold on his tackling to be a safety for the Pats. He reminds me of Brandon Meriweather in that respect. He has good ball skills and tracking ability though, so could develop.

It looks like he will go in the late 1st early 2nd type area. Is this a bit early for Bill to consider a position change? I guess he did it with Wilson but he has steered clear of that with Defensive Ends.

I don't know much about him other than he is rated pretty high.

Personally I would settle for a good CB or a good Safety not someone who is mediocre at both.

I, too, thought he had poor foot quickness and recovery speed. Yet at the combine he tested off the charts in the SS and 3-cone, and ran a very solid 4.4. I am starting to think his issues are mental more than anything; he gets lost in zone all the time, and seems to overthink his technique in man.

He does look like an ideal conversion prospect. I just think he's far more of a project than people realize. The first two rounds round are too early for that kind of project, given the depth of the draft. Gilmore is very talented, though, and he could be worth the gamble. If it pays off, he's a premium playmaker at CB and FS. If it doesn't, however, we've passed on some very solid players in favor of "potential."

If BB decides to draft him, I won't complain. I won't count on Gilmore performing well, either. Worth a gamble, but don't get emotionally invested.

I agree and cannot see the Pats taking him in the first round. At 48 he becomes a little bit more of a value but still a risk and I'd roll the dice at 63. I doubt he makes it to 48 because some team that just loves the measurables will grab him at the top of the second worst case.

There's only two conclusions for Patriots fans on rookies. They are either a bust or being fitted for their bust in Canton.
