Default DE: Arkansas' Jake Bequette > UNC's Quinton Coples

Coples is touted as the #1 DE this year. I just don't see it. Bequette is probably a 2nd rounder and his combine numbers are as good, if not better than Coples. Really most things are negligible differences between them. Coples has 10lbs, but that's about it.

Bequette's also had better on field production. Yet nobody has talked about him being a 1st rounder. Can the Pats steal him in the 2nd?

Bequette is slow off the snap, I dont have any interest in him.

have you been smoking the same stuff as Patsderoer??

Seriously, Bequette is more of a OLB in the Pats 3-4 system where Coples has the build to add 10 lbs and be a 3-4 DE.

I believe that Bequette's best position is 4-3 DE. Coples can be a 4-3 DE or a 4-3 DT, or a 3-4 DE.

Are you this much of a douchebag in real life? You must be very well liked by your colleagues.

Belichicks 1st rd DE selections have both weighed over 300lbs. Coples is only 284 and looks maxed out at that weight. He could add fat but he would lose speed and endurance.

He is around Mario Williams weight, and Mario played OLB this year at a high level before getting injured.

Bequette is closer to Willie McGinest/Adalius Thomas weight..... which is BB's ideal weight for OLB considering how much he liked Willie and how hard he pursued Adalius in Free Agency.

Legitimate question. Don't take this the wrong way.

You mention combine numbers and production. Have you actually watched the guy play?

Coples is third round pick imo. if you want someone from NC take Brown not Coples. Bequette is the probably the best pass rusher in this draft.

If Bill doesn't take one of Branch, Mercilus, Perry or Hightower w/ either 27 or 31,
then I have no problem if he takes Bequette or Shea McClellin w/63.
At this time, I feel that taking either of them w/48 or earlier is premature,
because both should be avail. into the 3rd round.

I may feel differently one month from now, however.

Yeah, this is what I'm talking about. His size says elite pass rusher and he was productive, but the tape just doesn't back that up at all. He's a 4th round pick at best.
Off The Grid likes this.

No. That's all I have to say on it. For plenty of reasons stated above. I only hear question of Coples' motor. You just have to watch this guys technique and how he plays. Solid first round player. Don't set a great deal much on just the combine...it's clear on tape who the better player is.
