I completely understand, and its nothing personal against Hoyer. I probably like him as a person more than a player and I wish he could stay on the team too.
But the combination of value and the extra roster spot outweighed the 1 year of Hoyer.
Exactly!!
That's precisely why I've been trading Hoyer in my Mocks:
1 ~ Those 50 Spots ~ after the Specs ~ add up with frightening rapidity. To me, it just makes more sense to have a 3rd QB on the Taxi Squad...and in the rare circumstance that we need a 3rd QB during a Game ~ May The Gods Forbid It!! ~ we can always roll with Master Craftsman Julian Edelman!!
When was the last time we've needed a 3rd QB in a game, due to injury?? Anyone??
2 ~ Losing Hoyer for ~ at the very most ~ a 2014 3rd Rounder ~ just to have him around for one more year would suck.
3 ~ And though I like Hoyer, I actually prefer the Potential of Kellen Moore far more.

And OTG, I still haven't had a chance to really sit down and go through your masterpiece yet. I'll try to over the next day or two. I want to make sure I give it the time and thought it deserves.
Cheers guys.
No worries, Mate!! And thanks for the kind words!!
I wouldn't bother, either: I'm aiming to get V14.0 cranked out by next weekend!!

Trades:
1) 27 Trade to SD for 2) 49 and 2013 1 (not sure if the 1 is realistic but let's assume A.J. is desparate.)
1) 31 Trade to Bills for their 2nd (9) and 4th (105)
2-9 S. McClellin OLB
2-48 R. Keyes, DE/DT
2-49 Bruce Irvin, LB
2-62 Brandon Taylor, S
3 93 M. Martin, S
4 105 R. Brooks, CB
4 126 C. Rainey, RB/returner
Notes:
- B. Taylor is a major reach, but BB doesn't care. We need safety help in a big way - the trade to SD is so they can take H. Smith. BB reaches to secure a safety. I'm no draft guru but I've read safety class next year is much better. Also two safeties might be overkill, but Chung is hurt. A lot.
- I couldn't find room for WR A.J. Jenkins. I don't know if they target any other WRs, maybe G.Childs if they trade down and pick up another 4th or a 5th.
I do think we'll get a returner of some sort: B. Boykins, J. Adams also possibilities.
S. McClellin is probably a pipe dream. We've passed or ignored Barwin, Reed, Matthews etc. et al. in the past, and I've a feeling history repeats itself. I'd be excited to see either him or V.Curry as a Patriot though.
Edit; Oops, thanks for the correction Atippett (Brain cramp I guess)

Reason: Corrected Young for Taylor
- B. Young is a major reach, but BB doesn't care. We need safety help in a big way - the trade to SD is so they can take H. Smith. BB reaches to secure a safety. I'm no draft guru but I've read safety class next year is much better. Also two safeties might be overkill, but Chung is hurt. A lot.
Shame you substituted McLellin for Lewis. Lewis has the much greater upside. But nevertheless, this is a great mock. Jones, Fleming and Broyles are all major binkies of mine and Hightower comes close.
I'm going to go on a limb and say that this is possibly the best mock we've had on Patsfans from my perspective. Well Done. (Just put lewis in next time please).

God, I LOVE the focus on Defense, this Draft Season!!
Great Draft! You proved to the talking heads in the main forum, (the should the pats draft a WR thread?), that the focus of the draft can be all defense and you can still get the young WR, in your case, you got 2. A young WR really isn't needed for 2012.
Then for 2013 we have a healthy 2nd year Broyles and a 2nd year Marvin Jones ready to go.
