Default ayjackson Pre-Draft Mock

1. Miami - Jake Long, OT, Michigan

He's been my pick here all along.

2. St. Louis - Vernon Gholston, DE, Ohio State

Peter King says he knows one thing - the Rams aren't taking Gholston. He also quoted someone as saying everything a GM says in April is a lie. Too bad he couldn't connect the dots.

3. Atlanta - Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College

He's the real deal, and all the scuttlebutt is deflecting away from what really makes sense - the Falcons draft a new poster boy.

4. Oakland - Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU

Best defender in the draft.

5. Kansas City - Chris Long, DE, Virginia

Tough to call here. I expect stupidity from this lot. But this is the best guy on the board. New Orleans is very nervous at this point, but the price is too high to move up for Ellis.

6. New York Jets - Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas

Radio City Music Hall rejoices. Mangini does not have the luxury of building a team the way Belichick does. His coaching career could be over if he doesn't make things happen this season. He'll hope McFadden can have a Peterson-like impact.

7. New Orleans - Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC

New Orleans offers up a swap of second rounders (40 for 62) for a swap of firsts (10 for 7). Pats may be able to extract a 2009 second or third if the bidding for the pick is hot.

8. Baltimore - Ryan Clady, LT, Boise State

Baltimore will follow the Cleveland model of rebuilding by securing a LT first, then trading into Dallas' first rounder to take their QB of the future (Brohm or Henne).

9. Cincinatti - Brandon Albert, G/T, Virginia

With needs all over the place, and four defensive lineman off the board already, the Bengals look to the offensive line to a man that could project into any position save center.

10. New England - Leodis McKelvin, CB, Troy

I've gone back and forth, in and out, and all over hell's half acre. I've heard all the discussion and commentary. I believe this will be the pick if available at seven or lower. Dissenters be damned. $6m per isn't too much to pay a number one corner, $9m is. Bye bye Asante, hello Leodis.

40. New England - Quentin Groves, OLB, Auburn

Cliff Avril's a possibility here too. The Pats look to add some speed and athleticism to the outside rush.

69. New England - Anthony Collins, OT, Kansas

Swing tackle possibility. Could start immediately at RT if Neal's injury forces Kazcur inside.

94. New England - Beau Bell, ILB, UNLV

This is getting fruitless, since so much depends on who's sliding and who's not. Token ILB regardless. Bryant and Rubin look like possibilities here as well. If any corners fall (Porter, Godfrey, Thomas), they look good too.

128. New England - Quentin Demps, S, UTEP

This is the last pick in my mock. It's already a crapshoot as to who's available and who isn't. This haul would be good enough to sip some bubbly anyway.

Groves is Auburn. No biggie.

I like the swapping of second rounders with New Orleans. In reading all the various guides it looks like some great talent is available in the second round, thus, moving up would be beneficial (Atlanta should have a great draft with those three 2's).

Thanks. I saw that but forgot to change.

ESPN rank him around #40. I think there have been some injury concerns lately. Regardless, Avril is there as a secondary plan.

Heh, is the snow still on the ground there? Has it warmed up any? I was there yesterday on a stopover on through to Vancouver. Holy Crap was it cold!

Still frickin' cold....I'm not amused. It's one thing for us to get a spring snowstorm - but usually it melts the next day. This ain't going nowhere until Friday at the earliest. Luckily I'll be in Victoria. Unluckily, I'll have a snowball's chance in hell of watching the Draft.

Well I'm batting 1.000 so far. What, no derogatory comments with regard to my selections? Have the dissenters truly been damned?

I like the trade, but am not overly fond of Mckelvin. The Beau Bell pick AND the Leeds badge as avatar make up for it.

Well, we couldnt let you off that easy, lol. I say Albert over McKelvin in the first, best available CB at 69 and you might have my vote for best mock so far this year! Problem is its TOO good, lol. I would love to see Groves drop there....that would make our year!
