Trade #1-New England trades #7 to Dallas for #22 and #28

#22-Jerrod Mayo, ILB- Mayo is very athletic and fast, would play the Will in the patriots system. played against elite competition and excelled. Is a good tackler and should be a nice replacement for Bruschi when the time comes

Trade #2-New England trades #28 and #69 to Atlanta for #37 and #48

#37-Antoine Cason, CB-Cason is a smart, phsical corner who is a great fit for the patriots scheme. Would probably be the #2 to start off but has the tools and skills to be a # 1 corner in this league. I think most of us on this board love cason.

#48-Quentin Groves, OLB- Groves can have an immediate impact on the field as a situational pass rusher. Extremely fast and athletic. Will need some seasoning to be an everydown OLB but his pass rush skills are extremely valuable on day 1.

#63-Oneil Cousins, OT-Cousins is an athletic tackle that can probably come in and start at RT from day one. Is a bit raw, but in the patriots system, has the potential to be a future LT.

#94-Beau Bell, ILB Bell would be more of a 2 down Mike Linebacker in the 3-4 system. He is a tough, in your face run stopper that would give the patriots some flexibilty to move AD outside where he can be more of a force. Bell, Hobson, and possibly Seau would be a great rotation at the mike linebacker position.

#129-Craig Stevens, TE- We all know that Belichick loves to draft TE's. Stevens is not a great pass catcher, but is one of the best run blocking TE's in this draft and would take over the position held by Brady last season.

#197-Trae Williams, CB- Williams has nice versatility and a ton of playing experience against good competition, was overshadowed by Jenkins but if not for his lack of ideal size may be a lot closer to him as far as draftablity is concerned. Can play man coverage or zone.

#238-Jacob Hester, RB/FB-I love this kid, he is purely a football player. Not the biggest or fastest, but will give you 110% every single time he is on the field. A true Belichick type player. He can run the ball on short yardage and has good hands out of the backfield. His versatility could open up a few roster spots and eventually could be that third down back like Faulk I think.

That would be an absolutely spectacular draft. So spectacular that I would never predict it since I think your top 3 picks will all be gone by the late 20s. But who knows?

I'd tend to agree. Getting 3 first-round (IMO) talents with only 1 first round pick might be a little optimistic. I don't care for either Bell or Williams, but with the rest of the draft, who cares?

Calling Stevens one of the best blocking TE's in the draft doesn't say much. He's definitely not a drive-blocker....basically he gets in the way and screens off the defender. He puts in the effort, though, which is admirable. I've got the feeling that Belichick's going to use a 6th or 7th rounder, or a priority free agent on a TE that is a one-dimensional mauler. Maybe a small school unknown. Maybe a converted tackle. Keep your eye on a guy like Adam Bishop or Cole Bennett.

Love Mayo, Cason and Williams. Fills the need areas which would make the draft a success right there.

Groves will likely not be there at #48...and likely not even close. I know he is slipping in the eyes of the talking heads, but just check the team needs in the late 1st and early 2nd. Groves should be fairly popular despite his apparent character/injury/intelligence issues

Really don't want OL on 1st day and Cousins would be battling for a roster spot with Kaczur, O'Callaghan and Britt. No thanks for a 2nd round pick.

Bell is a tub of goo. Pass.

I like Stevens but I'm hoping that Cottam will slip.

Hester is fine as a 7th round pick. We already have Evans and Eckel so he can start out on the PS. Not gonna quibble about pick #238.

I would assume Groves is gone and use the Cousins and Bell picks to get a rush OLB. If the Pats can come away with Mayo, Cason and Williams, I'm going to be pretty happy regardless.

thanks guys, I tried to keep it fairly realistic, but this is my dream draft, so players tend to slip a little in those type of drafts. I would not be suprised to see groves still there in the middle of the second though.

I would. Despite the Kipers of the world suggesting otherwise, the dynamic pass rushers are the guys that have been getting PAID the last couple of years, and every team covets one or two. They seem to get overdrafted, not ignored.

I don't like this. I see Cousins as a marginal tackle prospect, and a good guard prospect. If we are going to draft a OT project, I'd rather it was someone with higher upside, such as Duane Brown.

Too early for Bell. Bell is a project pick who is going to have to get in better shape and develop his mental approach to the game. A good 2nd day pick, not in rd 3.

Looks like a good prospect, maybe a little small for an NFL blocking TE, which was his college strength.

I don't think he will become a quality starting cb in the NFL. So I give this one a thumbs down.

I'd rather trade down with Dallas and pick up Groves and Cason in the first round. Maybe get Carpenter out of Dallas as well? And throw in a day one pick trade to Miami for Jason Taylor (Hey, i can dream right?

PATSNUTMe has been whining about people nagging him to bring me back in the wake of recent events, I won't be able to put much time in for now, but to quiet Nut's shrill pleas I offer the following "dream" draft (without trades) - reality isn't high on this one.

7 LB Chris Long - I'd be shocked to see him here, #1 LB prospect for me.
62 RB Ray Rice - Kevin Faulk's replacement.
69 LB Darrell Robertson - My #3 OLB behind Long & Gholston.
94 TE Brad Cottam - Well-rounded TE with surprising athleticism for his height.
129 CB Chevis Jackson - This kid can start in the NFL.
164 CB Jack Williams - Playmaker in the MAC.
197 S Corey Lynch - App State kid drawing comparisons to John Lynch.
238 WR Kevin Robinson - Return Specialist who impressed in All-Star action.

There will be some OL, LB, and DL priority free agents available who look to provide some decent competition in camp.

With a bit of luck in this draft, BB should be able to trade back a bit and add at least one more pick this year - which is much more likely than Chris Long sliding to #7, but it's a nice dream.
