That trophy represents the team – I mean that word collectively, that is able to play the best season for the year that it's engraved. It doesn't mean anything about what happened the year before. It doesn't say what's the best team, which has the most talented players, which teams has the biggest payroll, smallest payroll. It stands for the team that played the best in that season. Put the number on there for that year. And the next year we start all over again everybody is at the same point."
Pats trade 7 to the 'Boys for 22 and 28. The 'Boys badly want McFadden, so they take him, the Pats get bigger bang for their buck.
Also, we trade 62 and 69 to the Falcons for 37, they have many needs and would love to get some more picks in a deep draft.
22. Mike Jenkins, CB, USF- best CB available, fills need
28. Jerod Mayo, ILB, Tenn- best cover LB in the draft, rising for a reason
37. Cliff Avril, OLB, Purdue- Colvin's replacement?
94. Durant Brooks, P, Georgia Tech- bit of a reach, but we need a better punter
129. Anthony Collin, OT, Kansas- great value

#7. D. McFadden RB Arkansas
#62. J. Barrett SS Arizona St.
#69. Charles Godfrey CB/FS Iowa
#94. Philip Wheeler ILB Georgia Tech
#129. Marcus Howard OLB Georgia
This is not at all how I think the draft would go but with these constraints I consider this to be the best possible situation for the Pats, trade McFadden later for players and not for the picks.
Trades:
Pats trade 7 to the 'Boys for 22 and 28. The 'Boys badly want McFadden, so they take him, the Pats get bigger bang for their buck.
Also, we trade 62 and 69 to the Falcons for 37, they have many needs and would love to get some more picks in a deep draft. (Yes I just stole this scenario from mavfan, but I like it.)
#22. Jerod Mayo ILB Tennessee
#28. Patrick Lee CB Auburn
#37. Cliff Avril/Groves OLB Purdue/Auburn (whichever floats your boat)
#94. Carl Nicks OT Nebraska
#129. Jack Ikegwuonu CB Wisconsin (worth the risk)
If we had these picks this is how I would want the draft to go, I picked all of the players slightly before their ranking
7- Keith Rivers, LB, USC
62- Antoine Cason, CB, Ariz.
69- Charles Godfrey, CB, Iowa
94- Shawn Crable, LB, Michigan
129- Marcus Howard, LB, Georgia
164- Tony Hills, OT, Texas
199- Owen Schmitt, FB, West Virginia
238- Jonathan Hefney, CB, Tennessee
Truly one of the worse prospect rankings I've seen yet. That said:
7 Derrick Harvey
62 Antoine Cason
69 Chris Johnson
94 Ahtyba Rubin
129 Terrence Wheatley
164 Stanford Keglar
197 Keenan Burton
238 Jonathan Goff
