Remaining free agents from (pats1) focusing on TE's-------------
As we are now about a month into free agency, here is a comprehensive and accurate list for those interested. All tendered but unsigned RFAs and franchise-tagged, the top available UFAs, and some of the top street FAs are listed: RFAs: TE Bo Scaife, Titans (2nd) TE Bryan Fletcher, Colts (6th) TE Billy Bajema, 49ers (7th) Franchise-tagged: TE L.J. Smith, Eagles (Non-exclusive) Street FAs: TE Kyle Brady (Failed Physical) UFAs: none pats1 With only 4 TE's on dryheat's vertical draft board, pickings are indeed slim for this position, a major aspect of the Pats blocking schemes.

imo, there's a very good chance one of the 3rd round picks will be TE. Someone who can come in as a blocking TE and progress into the receiving role as watson and thomas are both FA in 2 years. My guess is Martellus Bennett. If he's gone then Craig Stevens or Kellen Davis in later rounds.

Then again, the Steelers spent a third round pick on Spaeth last year, who basically did nothing but block (1 yard TD receptions aside), so maybe the market on those guys is going up. I'm sure there are some blocking TEs draft-eligible that we haven't heard of because they're not ranked by the draft sites. I have no doubt that Belichick would use a sixth or seventh rounder to grab a dominant blocking TE. OT Duane Brown out of Virginia Tech is a converted TE that could certainly be used as a blocking TE. And I still like the idea of drafting Owen Schmitt and converting him into a blocking tight end/wing back.

This is a bit off topic, but I'd like Kellen Davis, but I'd actually prefer him on defense. This guy has a world of talent, and he could possibly standup and play on the outside. As well as possibly be the third tight end on your team.

One guy who seems to have potential is Louisville's Barnidge, but he's limited athletically. Hard working over-achiever type, but he'll be available later and isn't afraid to stick his hat into a defender. Maybe some better technique can be coached into him. Definite Red Zone threat.

Davis did play both ways at Mich ST. I agree with you as a TE, even though he does have a ton of potential. I'd love to see him as an OLB. He's bi, fast, and strong as an ox. The Patriots could afford the gamble.

*It really is funny that you made that typo in a thread about a player who goes both ways...if that was intentional -- brilliant!

Craig Stevens. Read some nice things about him, and impressed at the Combine.
Would love to see Cottam here though. Echoes of Kevin Boss.
