Default Nate Solder

My previous concerns are officially VAPORIZED.

There is no question that Nate Solder is an extremely talented and athletic Grizzly.

If Coach Bill believes in this kid, that tells me all I need to know.

Add his amazing Size + Athleticism metrics to Coach Bill's ~ and Coach Dante's ~ implicit stamp of approval...and I believe this kid has nothing less than Multiple Pro Bowl Potential.

By the end of the year, we might have the best O Tackle tandem in the GALAXY.

I don't know about y'all, but in my book, this pick is a MONSTER Win!!

Default Solder, really?

How in the world can you pass up Bowers AND Amukumara, for this guy, he could've very easily been there in the second round. I HATE this pick, I just don't get it at all, he's too much of a project and he doesn't have the mean streak you want from an offensive lineman. Even of they didn't want to take a conversion project like Bowers, Amukumara would've been the much better pick here, I was shocked that he fell as far as he did and thought that he would be picked by the Patriots when he fell all the way to 17. At 17, you should be picking someone who will have an impact this year and Solder just won't get it done. Even if Light doesn't come back, Solder is too raw to start is rookie year on the left OR right side. This is gonna be one of the worst picks they've ever made, because of of who was on the board at the time (Bowers, Amukumara, Jordan) and how raw of a prospect Solder is, he has too much legit bust potential. hopefully Bowers will maybe still be there at 28. SOLDER= BAD PICK.

If Coach Bill + Coach Dante believe that they can harness this kid's unquestionably VAST potential ~ which has always been the concern with him ~ then so do I.

If Scar can turn 5th and 6th rounders into starters I think he can make this kid into a star with his athletism. Look what he did with his 1st and 2nd round grizzlies. Light, Mankins and Vollmer. He is going to be 4-4.

I didn't see that coming.

I don't care how big and athletic he is, he plays robotic and his skills are raw.

Dante will have his hands full with this one. I understand his ceiling is potentially higher than Castonzo's, but how can you pass on him? I think it's a mistake.

Default Re: Nate Solder

they picked him because:

1) OT is a need

2) Colts, Giants, Eagles, who were picking behind the pats, were targeting OTs

3) DEs are readily available deep into the first round

Cameron jordan, D'Quan Bowers, Cameron Heyward, Mark Ingram are still available right now.

There are conflicting reports how Solder performed in the Senior Bowl. But I trust Todd McShay. He says Solder really impressed. Senior Bowl Buzz: Todd McShay Raves About Former Buff Nate Solder

So that's probably what sealed the deal, as it did a few picks later for Danny Watkins being picked by Philly.
