Win, FAIL, or Meh? DraftSite.com 7 round mock
Here's what they have the Pats taking in:
1-OAK "DE" Ryan Kerrigan, Purdue
1 OLB Akeem Ayers, UCLA
2-CAR DT Jurrell Casey, USC
2 RB Kendall Hunter, Oklahoma State
3 CB Joe Lefeged, Rutgers
3 WR Jerrel Jernigan, Troy
4 S Marcus Hyde, Michigan State
5 C Ryan McMahon, Florida State
6-NO OT Danny Watkins, Baylor
And as an added "bonus"—but please don't use this in grading—they present a 7-round 2012 mock using the same draft order (minus trades):
1 OT Matt Reynolds, BYU
2 S Robert Sands, West Virginia
3 CB Antonio Fenelus, Wisconsin
4 RB Lance Dunbar, North Texas
5 LB Etienne Sabino, Ohio State
6 "DE" Tim Fugger, Vanderbilt

Two OLBs, one of which is a conversion, with the first two picks? Fail.

Don't look at the round, look at the names. Danny Watkins is a smart, strong, agile guard/tackle who some here are targeting as high as 2B. He'd be an amazing steal in the 6th. (You'll find some profiles calling him an "intriguing late-round project"...they were inevitably written BEFORE he spent the last year at LT.)

His age could hurt his draft stock and allow him to fall, it does bring up some questions though: why is he 26 and not yet out of school?

Canadian kid, grew up playing hockey and no football, worked as a firefighter for a while then went to junior college for their fire academy. While he was there, he decided to give the school football team a whirl. Pretty soon he was being recruited by multiple BCS programs.

Super fail. Kerrigan may be good, but not with the Oakland pick... totally overdrafted.
And Ayers is a horrible prospect, stiff, slow, just a bad fit for our defense. Someone who knows nothing about the Pats chose that draft class. Give me Jeremy Beal. Even without looking at the mock, I know he was on the board at the Ayers pick. Beal would be great for us.
