Default Lockout Draft rules

Casserly: 'Draft will go on as scheduled' - CBSSports.com

"Couple of changes though: Teams will not be able to contact or sign players that were not drafted during the draft. They can also not trade players during the draft, but they can trade picks, both present and future, during the draft."

Additionally, there will be limits as the to the interactions players both new and old can have with teams.

I'm assuming that these draft rules prevent trading a draft pick for a roster player on another team. Personally, I am hoping that the Pats can use a pick or two to secure some quality veterans...similar to the Corey Dillon trade.

Those rules would only apply if there is no new CBA/a lockout is in progress.

Exactly, which stinks for the Pats. They've been pretty good at that in recent years.

I don't understand the reasoning behind not allowing teams to sign any UDFAs. It'll be different with draft picks because they're bound to the team that drafted them. The league should at least allow teams to reserve UDFAs they want. But then again, who knows what things are really going to be like if it gets to the point of a lockout?
