Default Michael Griffin moving to CB...

Felt this was newsworthy from a prospect evaluation point of view. Griffin was listed as a SS, some thought he was better suited for FS (raised hand), now his coach says he's "best suited to play CB."

Would be interesting to know what BB's pre-draft evaluation was for Griffin. Was he thought to be better suited for a Safety position only -- or did he also have potential for CB?

Thoughts?

From the Tennessean:

Quote:
Fisher said moving Griffin to corner isn't necessarily an experiment."We feel like he has corner skills and we know he can play the other positions,'' he said. "So we want to get him as familiar as we possibly can at the position as soon as we can. I think he is best suited to play (cornerback). That's what we're doing, and I believe it is going to work out.''

Worst idea ever.

I feel sorry for those fans because the people that run that team are total idiots.

Griffin for corner over much easier transition players like Nelson and Merriweather? Griffin was in no way a CB, guess they just do what they want in Tenn.

When Tenn picked Griffin my first thought was that he must be a "clean" player that stays outa trouble, as opposed to Pacman.

Losing your best CB for a year, ouch from a coaches perspective.

This is a very good move by the Titans. it is Griffin's best chance to impact and remain healthy in the NFL. IMO he can become a solid starter at Cb. Not a star, but a solid starter. The Jaguars should do likewise with R. Nelson. I believe they will eventually, as they also moved R. Mathis from FS to CB.

i think its temporary because they dont have any CB behind Harper. If Pacman was there they would of had Thompson out of line up replaced by Griffin

From the Tennessean:
they're moving him to cb because san diego screwed tenn over by not pulling the trigger on the turner trade (they drafted griffin for us)

when the traded didn't happen, instead of drafting jarrett for them, we scrambled to pick the 3rd guy on our 1st round cluster (c. davis) our first 2 were griffin and meachem.

so the trade doesn't happen, they're stuck with griffin (which isn't really a bad thing because he's very good) and we have to trade up with the bears to get our top safety choice in round 2 , weddle. The titans are then left with having to fill their RB spot (because of the overweight potentially dissapointing lendale white) and their wr spot, because they didn't get jarrett.

so they choose to pick chris henry instead of a wr, which was quite a reach.

Well I'm not a Charger fan but if they screwed over Tenessee I'll be a Charger fan for a day. Screw the Titans (for the Rodney incident) and Go Chargers (OK, that's over now).

He's more of an in the box safety, meaning covergae is not his strong point, which make the change to CB even stranger. Of all the first round safeties, he seemed the least suited to me moved to CB. I agree, it does seem kind of forced.

Fischer has to do something with Pacman's situation, but to be honest Michael Griffin is not a a good CB.
