just wanna get your guys opinion on the pats moving up in the draft to get a special player. the way i see it they can prob package the 2 1st round picks and move up to about 9 or 10. anyone see that happening? if we can move up and get landry then i think were set on defense.

I like the idea, but wouldn't that involve including the Pats 3rd round pick? If the Pats had a 2nd rounder, I would say maybe. But If the Pats were to move up to get that "special player", they would end up with probably 2 1st day picks. I would rather keep my draft picks and move up one or two spots if necessary. My ideal 1st round would be, ILB Patrick Willis and S Michael Griffen.
Sure, I've been advocating it for Adam Carriker in the Draft Forum, but I think BB has his eye on a Punter at #24 and will wait and see if he falls. (By the way, #24 + #28 = 8 using new math and the Jimmy Johnson draft value table.)

If they draft this Carriker character, which he will probably be gone by #11 to San Fran., I would throw up!
I think, from a "Value" perspective, it might be better for us to Keep one 1st(Hopefully 24) and trade the other. I think a couple teams have 2 second round picks, maybe swap our first for those OR find a team like the Raiders who have HIGH picks in each round and maybe swap with them(If for some reason they fall in love with a player that WILL be there at 28, but not for there spot in round 2) for their 2nd and 3rd. This way we can pick some "Value" guys that should be around then, but might be too high to spend a first on(Buster Davis, David Harris, Zak Deossie etc).

Drafting Carriker sound better and better!

Picks in the 20-32 range five better price/performance than a top 10 pick, take the 2 first rounders and be happy. Trade down if the guy you want isn't there football is a game of attrition over the course of a full season you need lots of good players.
Willis and Friffen would make my off season

"How does (Miami-Ohio offensive lineman Brandon) Brooks not get invited to the combine? How did Vollmer not get invited to the combine? I don't know. We can't really worry about that. We just have to try to evaluate them the best we can."
Why do you say that? I don't understand. Also, why do the Pats need another D-lineman that will have no impact rushing the passer? That was one of the defenses weaknesses last year.

I think it depends on who is there. With the top of the draft as deep as it is, there could be special players still there at #24. No one thought Vince Wilfork would be even close to #21 back in 2004. Sean Salisbury called it "legalized theft."
A lot of people thought we had to "settle" for the 6th best DL in the draft back in 2003, Ty Warren. People wanted us to trade both picks to move up for Dewayne Robertson. Sometimes sitting is your best bet.
